Quality proven small forwards we're talking not just any small forward. The really good small forward prospects usually go very high in the draft and you pay plenty via trade as well. How do you reckon we'd go getting Nick Watson currently

a lot easier than getting NWM.

We could see if Laird was willing to go to the Saints. Him and our first this year for Nas and the Saints second seems to be pretty close to what the deal will be from what I have been hearing. I mean, I am not sure on the pick swaps but it'll be close to that

Not correct Bicks. I followed this very closely at the time and Wellman was considered VERY highly - another Ben Hart calibre player. He was destined to and indeed made 2 All Australian Teams in the 6 years after leaving the Crows. Wellman was a far greater prospect than Rachele.

It doesn’t have to be a recent example. It’s the concept of giving up something that is quality (Rash) to get something absolutely elite which becomes your best player (or very close to) and a big finals winning type. The fact Nas is a midfielder now compared to a small forward is even more important.

I get we like Rash. But the truth is he isn’t in the top 7 players at our club and not in the best handful of players from his draft year (NWM, ND, Darcy, JHF, Callaghan). Would you rather give up TT, Worrell, Rankine, Max etc? Rachele is the one from a playing perspective we could lose - without considering the cultural impact

Point 1: there is absolutely no need for us to give up a quality player to get NAS. We are not trying to break a contract. Even if there was, you give up quality in a position you have plenty, and for us it would be Butts/Murray.

Point 2: Rachele is being rather underrated in this post. Would have given AA a serious shake this year if not for injury considering how hot he was.

The Victorian-born Rachele said he was thrilled to lock away his future at West Lakes.

“I’m really happy with where the club is heading at the moment,” Rachele said.

“And I think that shows with the number of signings we’ve announced in the last couple of weeks.

“The club has been really good with my family and I have enjoyed my time here so much, I had no intentions of going home at all, and in this next period of time I really want us to have some success.”

Rachele has played 26 games for the Crows since joining the club with Pick 6 in the 2021 AFL Draft.

Completely disagree he's kicked 25 goals from 13 games this year and in 2 of them he only played a quarter. Basically on track to kick 44 if he stayed fit.

None of those players would be worth a first round pick. Keays would probably get you a 2nd round pick. The other two, possibly a 3rd round pick.

ANB was a trade for Pick 28. James Peatling was a 2nd round pick with the crows getting a 3rd and 4th round pick back. Caleb Daniel was Pick 25 because North was desperate to get him in.

All of those are better players than Berry or Nankervis. ANB and Keays are probably on par.
I meant as a package of 2 or 3 of them together they should get a late first rounder.
Agree, not by themselves.

Are you serious?

He was playing VFL and was delisted, not even Hamish and his crew would have expected anything like that outcome.
You've forgotten all the disparaging remarks from Crows supporters on here in his early years with us it seems, thankfully they've mostly been forced to eat humble pie...

What did we pay for Izak Rankine and at this point Rachele is a fair bit more proven than Rankine was.
Did Keays biggest hater ever offer an unreserved apology? So we can all move on :)

Why are we giving up Keays? Feels like you've overestimated what we need to do here.

This is just offer all our first rounders and wait. Afterall Saints can't afford PSD.

Laird and a pick in the 20's for NWM.

Maybe we just trade Lachie Murphy for NWM straight up.

I have no interest in giving up Rachele to bring in another player.
Rachele is our future.
This year's finals series will be telling

If we continue on our run, win a final or two (or three...) then that sentiment would certainly carry weight

If we fall short and are left thinking that we lack a tiny bit of genuine star power, perspective changes very quickly

Riley Beveridge on Gettable reckons we’re still keen on Sam Draper despite re-signing ROB.

Feel like that’s only coming from Draper’s manager.
Vomit

Hopefully Riley is getting that from Sam's manager

Not in the Rachele scenario, seeing he too has star power.

It may change us on others. I.e. do we push to let Nick Murray/Jordan Butts go.

Mate Rachele is star power, he's 100% a match winner.

No way do we push Rash out. Absolute game breaker, pushing towards close to a 50 goal season at 22 years old as the 4th/5th forward. ANB, Keays, Rash and Rankine combo is John Wick level lethal at the feet of our 3 talls.

If Rash puts his hand up to leave, thats a different story. Rankine back forward, NAS to the middle. But I dont think Rash wants to go anywhere.

If NAS nominates us id prefer to only use draft picks. 2025 first and third, 2026 first with Saints 2025 third coming back. Id also gently remind the Saints of the Brad Crouch discussion where Brad picked the Saints and they played hard ball, we got unders.

If Nas nominates us AND Saints demand a player, and we have Rash putting his hand up to leave then id be wanting NAS and pick 5 for Rash, 2025 first, 2025 third and 2026 first. That way we would basically give up 2 late firsts and Rash for NAS and Sharp.

Loving how we currently have depth. Prefer to not trade Butts or Pedler. But Taylor, Jones, burgess, Mrouch, Smith, Sholl, borlase, cook, Laird could all be possibly talked into leaving for more opportunities at AFL level and wouldnt affect our overall position too much. Whether to the Saints or to other clubs for draft capital.

There is no way they’d give us NAS and 5 for Rash, 2 late first rounders and a third! That’s insane.
