Not really, already had the the physique and more and more it's starting to look like the manchild agaianst his peers thing could be the case with Tyler, very rarely have we seen his 2.92 sec 20m on display on the lead. Endurance was the question mark.

Being a manchild doesn’t mean he has the physique of AFL player

It sucks we didn’t get a midfielder this off season but Hollands is not the answer.

He got thrown out of Gold Coast and couldn’t even see out his 2 year contract at Carlton before the club would rather pay him out to make him go away.

Upside or not. His AFL career is done.
Think how funny it would be though if Carlton kick him to the curb then he turns out to be a good player? And better than all the ones they kept

Like us with Stengle except this time we're the ones laughing at the chump club who Culture Olympicsed their way to bugger all

I need some expert help: Vader?
The graphic "Adelaide List Status" pinned to this thread shows a total of 43 players and empty slots, but all sources I can find still say the max List size in 2026 is 44.
Why aren't we considering a fifth empty slot - have to be Cat A or B Rookie, we have max 38 on Primary list with Finbarr and 3 empty slots.
If Ah Chee gets to us he just fills one of the empty slots, so he doesn't change the "missing slot" equation.

Given that we made a play for Wanganeen-Milera, we would have cap space to delist a contracted player if we want the list spot. Maybe in this draft we don't

Who'd be most vulnerable if we went down that path though?

The max list size is 42 (senior + Cat A rookies), plus 0-2 Cat B rookies - hence 44. We will have a full roster of senior & Cat A rookies, but will be 1 short on the Cat B rookie list.

The eligibility rules for Cat B rookies are quite strict, making it relatively difficult to find eligible players worthy of listing. This is why few (if any) teams have a full roster of Cat B rookies.

In order to qualify for the Cat B rookie list, a player basically needs to be an International Player or not to have been registered or played in an Australian football competition for the previous 3 years. Borlase was born in Egypt and thus qualified under the International Player rule, Gallagher was born in Ireland, Cotton hadn't played in an Australian Rules competition for 3+ years.

We currently have 3x senior, 1x Cat A, and 1x Cat B vacancies on our team list.

Reckon Balme and Davis would have had a fair bit of input or if not certainly should have with this decision.
The alleged two strikes ( if fact) and drug use are cut and dry, so can be taken into calculations with risk assessment, but it’s the cultural impact of the other reported issue and the acceptance or not by the playing group which matters.
I wouldn’t be risking the tightness of our young group if they see it as an issue.

All that logic equally applied to Stengle

An AA selection and premiership later, we looked like fools and still do, with our culture focus still not providing a single finals win.

It needs to be tossed aside completely. The decision should be made on football only.

Hollands is further down the road with his issues, that's issues plural not singular. It's one thing to have documented off field issues and another to lose the trust of your teammates.

But Hollands already is a good player?

Was probably in our top 10 players in 2024 for games he played. Even this year when he came back against Geelong he was simply excellent. Would easily be the best user of the footy on our list (if he stays on it over pre season) by hand and foot. Just an elite decision maker, which is a touch ironic...

His issues are all about his off field lifestyle. Allegedly he's moved in with Walsh to try and stay on the straight and narrow now so we'll see what happens I guess. Has said he wants to stay at the Blues to repay the faith but I'm not sure the Blues will allow that.

He was in your top 10, thats not a huge deal.

Easy to forget he's only played 40 games of AFL footy. Last year was essentially his first full season at the level after a couple of very injury interrupted years at the Suns.
Injury and self induced too.

Im actually all for him getting another chance somewhere, but hes achieved nothing yet.

If Hollands can show signs of getting his life in order I think we would be mad to not take a gamble on him.

Get him in on base salary, set some strict KPI standards, if he falls outside of these let him go.

The club has lauded the culture of the group and the strides made in this area during Nicks' reign, lets put this to the test.

We can easily limit the risk, the reward could be high.

I am genuinely surprised so many are opposed, we are not offering him a 5 year deal.

If it were just the one issue I dont think you would find many opposed at all.

Its not though, and a club crying out for top level talent dont want him. This isnt a Tyson Stengle scenario, its much worse.

NWM would be in next year's salary cap.

A delisted player would bring forwards next year's into this years I think.

RE Welsh, I've seen him demonstrate that pace on the lead and top it off with a fantastic leap and grab.
Now once in a season is nothing to write home about but at least we know he can do it. I think why he hasn't done it more is a product of our SANFL forward line being nearly perma-flooded and the amount of time Welsh spends away from being a lead up forward.
