We don’t have a spot anyway do we. Curtin and Keane will be back before mid season so cant chuck one of those on inactive list
We have one spot left.

Indy Cotton is a Cat B Rookie. We only have 41 players on our main roster+rookie lists.

Keane and Murray aren’t necessarily old themselves. Borlase is fine as depth

No guarantee either are here in 5 years, or we want them here.

We're probably due an intercepting third tall defender in our prospect pool.

Angus Anderson was available on draft night and instead we trialled 2 sub-standard talents.

Not sure that's a great result.

That whole draft was "sub-standard talents, the musical". Let's not forget that one team couldn't be bothered drafting anyone.

It's a nothing result. Not good, not bad.

Exactly half the teams with signings (some of those with multiple signings), and exactly half with no SSP signings.

Not sure what to make of that...

Just out of interest, do you have equivalent data for the last couple of years? The 2025 Draft Class was seen as one of the weakest for years, which is part of the reason why Port failed to draft a single player. I'd be curious to see if this resulted in a smaller than usual SSP group as well.

Starting 2031 we only have Worrell ('33), Ah Chee ('31) and Fogarty ('31) and $3,550,000 in base payments allocated (assuming no coach is contracted to 2031!).

So Worrell, Ah Chee and Fogarty average $710k each in 2031, then Worrell continues for another 2 years on $710k, on average.

Mid season ruck could be on the cards if McAndrews struggles against the better players
Unfortunately how many athletic high leaping "mature age" rucks are there running around in the lower leagues that could slot straight in and perform at AFL level straightaway?.

The new ruck rules have made that many degrees harder than previously as most rucks in the lower leagues that aren't already on AFL lists as developmental rucks or back up rucks are the bigger bodied wrestling type rucks whose strengths are not so athletic or high leaping.

Best bet in this coming MSD is athletic high leaping and quite skillful 19 year old Marcus Krasnadamskis but even he he is unlikely to be AFL ready for a year or two.

He's been invited back to the Eastern Ranges as a 19 year old whilst training with the Dees VFL team who he will likely play a few games of VFL with throughout the year.

Interesting that we've added $1.3 million in additional payments for that period too compared to 2024

Dont think youll find many better who could slot straight in.

A younger ruck wouldnt be a bad shout.
If only there was a 6 foot 11 basketball player and ex footbally players that the club had been told about.
Oh wait, there was. They spoke to him once, promised to get back in touch and never did.

Could be handy developing right about now...

The '24 report when talking about money allocated for 5 years + is talking about 2030 onwards, where the '25 report is referring to money spent from 2031 onwards.

Fogarty's extension was announced in Oct '24. So in last year's report when it spoke about money allocated for '30 plus they were just talking about Fogarty (Worrell and Ah Chee were yet to be signed for those years), $2,275,000 for his last two years.

Have I got that right?
