serious question with these definitive statements - do you you have inside knowledge here?I think Justin Reid and I would now be on the same page. Great that we had a go, but we now know the reality. He’d rather stay at Saints for 2 years whilst Port accumulate the capital than come to us, even though we were headed for top 4.

The no draft collateral is absolutely appealing I will admit. If we think we’re a high end mid short of genuinely contending over the next 2 years and we think he’ll remain a high end mid over the next 2 years, then he’s exactly type we should be looking at. No draft collateral, so we get to contend without sacrificing future talent.
The no draft collateral is absolutely appealing I will admit.
I suspect he stays a Saints player TBHIt turns out that the changes to NGA/FS are going to make it much harder, but they had SFA to offer up last year, we had 3 firsts and he chose to remain at Saints for 2 years. You can refuse to see the bleedingly obvious, I don’t care, but he won’t ever be a Crows player.
Why sign for 2 years in 2025 and not 10?It turns out that the changes to NGA/FS are going to make it much harder, but they had SFA to offer up last year, we had 3 firsts and he chose to remain at Saints for 2 years. i would just question why neale would even consider the crows. surely its either a wa club or stay at lions. moving to adelaide, 2,607km away from perth, seems like the 4th most likely option AT BEST for neale. The no draft collateral is absolutely appealing I will admit.
Its a smart play. Why sign for 2 years in 2025 and not 10?
Tasmania capital my friend, playing the long game, it's smart business. His 2mill will likely get to 2.3-2.5 in 2027 when he is out of contract.
Regardless if he is a Crow or not, even less chance of being at Port.
reid thought some of the key issues re his decision would involve:It turns out that the changes to NGA/FS are going to make it much harder, but they had SFA to offer up last year, we had 3 firsts and he chose to remain at Saints for 2 years. Berry is an interesting one if we can land Bailey. Assuming Rankine and Rachele continue to improve, and we get Curtin and Draper rolling then he does become a 5th or 6th banana.Only a small snippet of goss I have been told this week, nothing that prob isnt common knowledge
re: Zac Bailey
Impression was he would be staying , we put an offer in not realising that Brisbane have gone full Jake Lever and low balled him and said thats our offer take it or leave it.
So we have Bradbury'd our way to the front of the queue
Sean Darcy salary dump is pretty much scrapped
Oh and Collingwood are sniffing around Sam Berry, but he likely stays
I know why - he’d be free of draft capital, plus we need a mid that can hunt the ball properlyNot sure why we'd bother TBH
2 firsts and O'brien..i'd do it as thats 1 first for Merrett and a first for someone silly enough to take O'brien as a salary dump...What do you think - two firsts and Soligo?

How does Port accumulate the collateral though, with what look to be at least 4 top end talented draftees available possibly more in the next 2 years via F/S and NGA. Butters the only real top end chip they have to play. Georgiades and Bergman aren't going to get them anything like Butters collateral if they choose to up stumps. Do you seriously believe JHF would leave Port?I think Justin Reid and I would now be on the same page. Great that we had a go, but we now know the reality. He’d rather stay at Saints for 2 years whilst Port accumulate the capital than come to us, even though we were headed for top 4.
His price would be way too high given his injury concerns. pass.Everyone has a price.
Wait is this inside info, or just from Gettable? We’re sniffing around Lachie Neale too
We still need someone like him rotating through the middleBerry is an interesting one if we can land Bailey. Assuming Rankine and Rachele continue to improve, and we get Curtin and Draper rolling then he does become a 5th or 6th banana.
I wouldn't be opposed to 2 seasons of Neale. So long as we get Bailey too.Wait is this inside info, or just from Gettable?
Bailey is priority 1, of courseI wouldn't be opposed to 2 seasons of Neale. So long as we get Bailey too.
Thats true, you'd hope that was Soligo but at this stage he looks a way off. Youve got a (potential) midfield group of Dawson, Rankine, Rachele, Curtin, Soligo, Peatling and Draper. You then add a Bailey or a Neale..... has to squeeze someone outWe still need someone like him rotating through the middle
Someone who puts in the true hard yards
Salary would need to be low enough so we could replace him within 24 months.Bailey is priority 1, of course
I’d love Neale too, though. We need a productive accumulating mid
