he is certainly a clever footballer who generally makes good decision and executes well if given time and space. but time and space is the real issue here.

zac seems glacial slow to me. no spark. our midfield and forward line needs more elite pace and rankine and draper will hopefully add this. but theres already too many core slow ish types like soligo and dawson. my view is zac is the slowest of them all

i think there is a reason he was only given a one year extension. its because he is a very marginal afl player imo. i understand this forum rates some players like zac - and nank - that i dont. i hope i am wrong
Zac has more footy IQ than 75% of our squad, that's why we've persisted

But in regards to the original point of replacing him with Drury or someone else in the MSD, Taylor is a depth guy. He’s in the 25-30 list spots and the kind of guy who should get a 1 year extension if there is room for him. You don’t recruit to replace a guy like that when he’s doing fine, which he is.

If we were to get someone to play HF in the MSD you’re looking at them replacing Pedlar or potentially ANB/Ah Chee, and I can’t see Drury being that guy.

Currently id replace Pedlar with nearly anyone.

Drury couldn't cut it at a terrible North Melbourne side, he isn't an AFL player.
Like many others before him, great state league player but that doesn't always translate

You dont rule a line through players because they dont cut it in a side where they were surrounded by rubbish

What are the attributes you see in Drury that make you think he’s worth another shot?
Very smart footballer, covers the ground well, rarely wastes a disposal and can find the goals.

Im not saying we need to pick the guy up, but he wouldnt be the first guy to be picked up after a failed first go.

ok sorry i wasnt talking about the msd in any of my posts here. i didnt think, or certainly realise, i was responding to any such subject. just offering my thoughts on taylor

50/50 whether he survives the end of season cull. i cant imagine he has many (any) suitors otherwise he wouldnt have accepted a one year contract last year

ps agree he is 25-30th on the list, probably nearer 30 imo

Disagree when he's played midfield on rare occasions in the AFL his clean hands around stoppages are his big weapon, it's also been a feature of the games he's played midfield in the SANFL....in fact I'd go so far as to say he has the best hands/handball in the whole Crows list when it comes to putting a Crows player to their advantage.....and he is not glacial slow either, all that's held him back a little is his fitness/endurance...I think you need to look a little closer actually

Unless we are willing to put TT into the ruck, I think we need one of Maley or T Murray as second ruck.

McAndrew averages around 70% TOG from memory.
Until Thilthorpe's back has recovered, not worth risking in ruck... particularly with 5 now on the bench.

I'll be very surprised if Bailey isn't our player from next year going by latest reports Brisbane simply can't match our offer.
Reidy would have known where the 'pain point' was for the Lions and the reported 10m offer over 7, is literally 4m ish above what they are seemingly willing to offer (5.5-6.5m I have seen reported). That 4m is life changing.

Would be surprising if he doesnt come here as seems like a good compromise joining a contending team, who also has Ah Chee, Hinge, Keays and Murray Davis that he would know, whilst getting paid a bucket load of money. Stay at Lions and earn considerably less or join a non contender (Power, Tigers, Dons) and get likely even more money (but seriously cant think it would be more than 200k more per year) and be a non finalist for the next 5 years.

I would be very surprised if we dont get him UNLESS Neale, and someone else even, leaves Lions and they up offer to 1.2 x 6 or 7 (which seems unlikely they would)

Thoughts on even if he does request us they could match it just out of spite? If Neale leaves they can. It would clean us out picks wise and prolly lose a berry as well.

Problem is several clubs can also match or maybe even top our offer, the only difference that might swing it is how strong the pull of Adelaide and being closer to his mother/brother really is.

And you'd imagine that the Vic clubs with the cash arent really desirable destinations at this point, with the possible exception of Collingwood

but if they match it wouldnt bailey likely just stay with lions? the main (only?) reason he is moving is $$$

if lions match the $$, he stays with them imo

but good luck them matching him when they are already apparently closed to maxed out with the salary cap and have a handful of absolute elite youngsters likely to be offered HUGE contracts by other clubs over coming years

Its going to come down to where he sees himself and his post football career. If he has always had plans to move back to Adelaide the week after he retires why wouldnt he do it now. If however he plans to explore coaching, Melbourne might be a better pathway. But even thats not certain because ex players frequently have to move interstate for assistant coaching roles.

I think it will be more the pull of family to be closer to his mother who has had major health issues recently along with his brother also residing in SA I believe that will be the major factor at this time if he leaves Brisbane.

Thats not necessarily true. If he harboured designs to stay at Brisbane beyond this year he would have likely just bit the bullet and taken the best offer Brisbane could muster. He might have desires to do different things. The money might just have been a catalyst but he is out of contract anyway and had FA not been a thing he could have requested a trade to us or a Melbourne based club anyway.

yeah not sure about that. all reports are he is happy in brisvegas. i believe his GF is from there. they have played in 3 straight gfs, won 2 flags and favourite again this year. he is playing great footy in recent years.

assuming all the above is true, what possibly could get him to move besides a massive change in $$ which would be life changing?
