As much as you think these player are offering us nothing, they are in fact serving a very good purpose, Big body's with experience, Just look at Melbourne and you will see a team that thought along those lines. Boyd and Cross may not be superstars but they serve a very important role in our side, we need to hang onto them as long as possible, not because they will win us flags but because they will significantly aid in the development of our younger players.
I think you've misunderstood me DogLee. As I said, both should be able to go out on their own terms, as in they retire when they are good and ready to retire, injuries permitting. I was more directly responding to Bazza's List Management Post, which had Boyd as a player to retain and Cross as a player to retire. If this is the method one was to take, I was merely suggesting that I believe Cross, on current form and role in team, would be worth retaining over Boyd.

Retire on their terms ? we have a history of this type of thing. No, when someone is better to take their place , then replace them. If they need to retire because they can no longer get a game, well so be it.

Has the world gone completely mad ?

As for the Boyd v Cross debate . One an all Australian just back from injury the other struggling big time with pace of todays football.

Don't think Melbourne would take him next year they will have Clark/Hogan/Dawes. If the Lions finish below the dogs we might go for Boyd seeing Brown will retired soon and our other KPF have really shown much.

GWS might want another KPF with Patton having promble with his knees.

As I think I said in a previous post - they should retired if and when a) they feel their time is up or b) when a younger player pushes them from the team on form. Until then they continue to protect and nurture the younger players around them.

I'm one that's really into the idea of trading Wood. In a swap with GWS he'd be very handy. They were very keen on him originally.

Something like Wood + pick for Taylor Adams.

Remember that GWS need to trim their list. I doubt they'd be entertaining many trades where they get two-for-one.

Forgot about that. I'm sure something could be worked out with them. Adams is a very good player who I really want us to go after.

Not a fan of Wood at all, I'd put him up for trade. However I don't think the club feels this way.

I very much doubt GWS will part with Adams.
He is one of their young players who hasn't signed an extension. On the D&T board some GWS supporters are worried he is very likely to leave.

Already moving away from players already mentioned over and over again are there any smokies or steal pickups floating around
There are two at Willy that have to come under attention - Nastasi & Wheeler. Both seem to offer what we are lacking, although we have Hunter in the wings too.

Mofra, whilst I rate Wheeler , I don't believe we can afford either of these 2 boys on our list.
We are already going to add to our midfield depth with classy young guys. The trouble is they are all on the small side as is Wheeler.( not super quick either )
Having said that if Wheeler was on our list now he would be playing.
Maybe both worth rookey listing ?

Both would be played mostly as small forwards with the capacity to push up the ground at AFL level imo, not really midfielders.

That's the ub, it seems to be Hunter's position at AFL level.
With Stringer playing as a high forward and Jones leading up the ground, do we need another? A smaller crumbing forward would be ideal, Nastasi is quick enough for the role perhaps.

FWIW Hunter isn't really a "quick" but topped his draft camp for agility meaning he should develop an ability to weave through congested play.

I definitely think we need another, but I'd be chasing more pace than anything else. I'd love somebody like Lewis Jetta (a lot to ask, I know :)) who is very fast and can play as a crumber or as a wingman, just to add to the rotations.

Yeah I'd be looking at just one more of this type to add to the list, would be very handy.

Hoping we manage to score Wilson with our second rounder somehow!

I'm not too sure on how many more under 180cm players we would be looking at recruiting though, sure in an ideal world they shouldn't need height as they shouldnt be the players going for the marks anyway (like Dahlhaus is always stuck doing) but in our team our midfielders must think its good to sit the ball on a midgets head :p

Bloody hell what a start to their VFL careers, might not be as far away as people think!
Prudden certainly doesn't look far off at all from those clips. Hrovat would've played already if not for his injuries, not really sure how far off he'd be. I maintain that we may not see Hunter this year, though.
I don't think many would've guessed on draft day that Prudden was a chance to debut before Hrovat!
