Adams played well again.
Ill say it again. He is a gun. One of those rare players that can win the footy and burst clear of the congestion. Not saying he's a good bloke, or a good sport, nor that we should move heaven and earth to get him. But he is a 200 game player and is underrated on this board.

We did the same when we traded Monty, a very bad decision where we lost the heart of our team and rapidly deteriorated after that.
Those trades in 99 were the cornerstone of our finals run in the mid 2000's onwards.
I vividly recall derision from the supporters as well . The club looked at the bigger picture instead of living in the moment

The past is a dream, the future a fantasy..... there is only the "now" !

I would have thought that we want to assemble a list rather than disassemble one. Don't see how one can successfully do both simultaneously.

The whole idea of "won't be around when we next challenge" for mine reeks of defeatism, assuming the interim years are not important or have no bearing on the development of the squad.

History says teams that win premierships improved steadily over the years prior to their ultimate triumph, and that means years with a balanced squad.
The recent performances/seasons of GWS and GC demonstrate quite clearly that no matter how much young talent you might have, overall development and success depend far more on having a solid group of talented senior players for any squad to learn how to win, rather than just heaps of young talent.
GWS and Gold Coast will be dominating the comp shortly. I look forward to you posting in two years time.

We're a football club, not a franchise. A football club that is trying to develop a positive culture, a culture with good people first and foremost.

We are not a club to dispose of its best, and most respected, player for a potentially good kid.

The Bulldogs are demanding it's kids make good, positive decisions and stick by each other, we aren't going to do the opposite of that by culling Griff.

Hopefully......
I thought the same thing a while ago. The players see it as a business, and the hierarchy at our club should run it like an organisation.

I think it doesn't help that he didn't play very well against us. It's like how some Richmond supporters don't think Libba is that good, because he didn't play too well against the Tiges.

That's true , but in saying that Croad was a pretty good player then and they didn't take it well.
It ended pretty well for them as well

We would all agree Croad was a " pretty good player" but Griffen is a star , arguably in the best ten players in the competition.A long way from where Croad ever got to.

I forgot to mention, my boss informed me yesterday that we're a massive shot at Stewart Crameri. Massive.

He enjoys it at Essendon, but the controversy is taking its toll. Bmac is trying to work his magic and he's getting through. I think we're in for a bit of a surprise come trade period time, boys. We're going to be quite active.

I never suggested they won't be good down the track, but why are GWS in particular prepared to trade draft picks [ ie more talented youngsters] for mature players now, even though they know their time is still some years away ?
