Not enough AFL players to field a team but some serious talent listed above. An NT team would lack key position players seeing as Steven May and Tony Olango are the only AFL listed NT players above 190cms. Although, given their talent, they could probably get away with playing a forward line full of six small forwards.

It’s about 1 player for every 15k in population. If memory serves me from the numbers we looked at for Tassie the other week, that compares fairly favourably.
NT - 17 AFL players (1 player for every 14.4k)
TAS - 27 AFL players (1 player for every 18.9k)
QLD - 48 AFL players (1 player for every 95.8k)
NSW - 61 AFL players (1 player for every 119.9k)

Junior participation numbers would also be interesting to look at in this discussion. I would have thought junior participation numbers in NSW and QLD would be much lower than Tasmania or Northern Territory (percentage wise). Which would most likely mean a lot of the best athletes from QLD and NSW aren't playing Australian rules football, whereas a lot of the best athletes from NT and TAS most likely are playing footy.
