Anyone know who's making a play for the mini draft picks and what GWS will be wanting for them
Bulldogs #5 and #6 are in play, early possibilities centred around MD1 + MD2 or Jed Anderson for both. Tigers trying to piggy back that to get Dom Tyson. GC and Melb seeming less likely with their first selection but who knows.

Last year it was an early 1st plus a 1st round compo pick for each of them, unfortunately there's not as many compo picks floating around any more. (FA compo picks aren't flexible like GC/GWS compo)

That's a lot of coin for someone who if it was an ice-hockey team would be in the second team.

It pushes fringe players like McGinnity out, but it's a lot of coin for someone few would rate as a gun.
But it's a football team so who gives a s**t about ice hockey?

Both GWS Giants and Carlton are two clubs who are said to have shown interest in acquiring his services, but the sagas involving Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett and Collingwood’s Chris Dawes are holding up any deal.
"Its been mainly those two that have expressed interest in him, but we are just going to see how the big boys play out and then hopefully something pops up for Raph"

And how many years seriously do you expect Kerr has left? 1-2 at most?

Wellingham will be a great pickup for WC, shame he didn't really consider the dees. do rate him as a decent mid

How has Clarke been on an AFL list for 9 years? My god that is a crime against humanity, no wonder St Kilda are a rabble. Doesn't even average 10 games a year. So not only did he waste a high end draft pick, he sucked on their teet for 9 good years and for what? The only memorable thing he contributed was the inspiration for Geelong's 2009 premiership.

Lovett was better for St Kilda than Raph Clarke.

Some thoughts to start your day. Free Agency and trading are great theatre, with lots more to come. It is worth reviewing the very different approaches used by all AFL teams:

- It appears at the moment that Collingwood are sucking the eyes out the draft. They seemingly have negotiated with their whole list, to be paid marginally above the old aged pension, in order that they are able to keep offering and securing players.

- Port Adelaide have gone for the fire sale method, where everything is for sale. Buy one, get one for free, seems to be in vogue.

- Melbourne is cleverly adopting a multi prong recruiting policy. Get rid of all of your experienced players, delist your mid range players and trade away those players, who haven't yet had time to succeed, or fail. With the draft choices and negotiations with these, they appear to have adopted the American Indian approach for the sale of New York, where it was sold for bright, shiny beads and mirrors. mmmmmmmm Shiny

- Fremantle apart from purchasing at the discount shop at Port Adelaide, seem to realise that no bugger wants to go there. Rather than approaching further players and being rejected again, they have adopted the old country dance policy, of standing to one side of the hall, saying nothing and hope that someone notices them and asks them for a dance.

- North have decided that their entire list is amazing and that even the players, they may be delisting, will only be traded for a first round draft pick. Sensational confidence in their list and the incredible skill of their players.

- Gold Coast, show that the white shoe brigade are not all dead, bankrupt, or in jail. With the Gold Coast urging Tippett not to be traded, but to go into the preseason draft, where they can get him for nothing, is all the talk of smoky rooms on the coast.

- The Giants as a new club, are a little unsure of how to conduct themselves, so have looked to more established clubs, to get an idea of how this all works. It is obvious that they are copying Collingwood and King Eddie's approach, of waging shock and awe war, on all who gaze lovingly, on their players. Richmond have been threatened and the rest of the competition warned. Their Western Suburbs supporters love this approach. Cars have been burnt in admiration, in nearby streets to the club.

- Richmond are the obvious environmentalists of the competition. They strongly believe in recycling, taking in discards and those that others, see destined for landfill and want to make them all shiny and new again. Kaftans and beads being added to the 2013 membership pack.

- Carlton, Recruit???? Trade????? Why??? They have decided that all they need to be a premiership team, is Mick Malthouse. The fact that he can make silk purses, out of their sows ears, have given them a low stress end to the year. They don't need any new players on the list and Malthouse will ensure that 2013 is injury free and will not accept just a top 4 finish. Top 4 finishes are for losers.

- Swans. Still can't get over that they stole this years flag with only two first round draft picks and players pinched from all over the league. Are waiting until 30 minutes before the trade deadline, when they will swoop in and take another five player has beens, to add to the Emerald City Recruiting Academy

- Western Bulldogs are having drafting sessions in house at the club, where they are chanting we have picks 5 and 6, we have picks 5 and 6, we have picks 5 and 6.

- Geelong have had someone tell them, that their list is old and the best is behind them. They are the men, we warn our children about. They are casting their eyes over youth everywhere.

- Saints a very professional approach. Maximising list with moving Goddard on and bringing further long term players to the club.

- Adelaide everyone knows is boring, but now even footballers can't live there. They are releasing all players who were born east of Border Town. Recruiting and drafting, will now only involve players, from South Australia or the Northern Territory.

- West Coast, interview, talk with, but no one is good enough. Its hard to recruit when you have no faults.

- Brisbane are the chess players of drafting. Vossy is working on trades, that involve six clubs, eight players, the shuffling of seven picks, two dogs and a horse. It will mean taking Fev back and a small jockey, but this could be sensational.

- Hawthorn have the moat around the club - No dont look at Buddy, Cyril is ours. Very much like the couple eating fish and chips, who are madly trying to keep the seagulls away.

Have heard a rumour from someone close to Adelaide that we're interested in Roughead.

Very unlikely imo. He won't leave the Hawks.

Can you post links to those Decent Games because i have never seen him play one, Thanks..

Malthouse would remember Raph Clarke bending Collingwood over in a final a couple of years ago. 15 or 16 marks that night. Raph has more courage than most and while not being a star is certainly someone that can offer a lot to a side.

Contracted through 2014. It would take a hell of an offer.

If only you knew what the hell you were talking about.

BRENT Moloney's manager Bruce Kaider says it is highly unlikely the ex-Demon will end up at Essendon, given Brendon Goddard's decision to join the club on Monday.

The Bombers have been linked to Moloney for some time - it was believed the club was keen on the 28-year-old in 2011 and was also interested in signing the tough onballer this year.

But, on Gillette AFL Trade Week Radio on Thursday afternoon, Kaider said Goddard's arrival at Windy Hill meant the Bombers probably wouldn't be able to afford his client.

"There's salary cap issues as part of all this free agency period that teams have got to be really aware of, and obviously Brendon goes there and takes up a big chunk of whatever salary cap space they had remaining," Kaider said.

"It would certainly make a deal tough at the moment but you never say never in this game."

Kaider said Moloney, the Demons' 2011 best and fairest, still had several years of quality football left in him, adding his leadership would be attractive to clubs.

He said Moloney was open to leaving Victoria to continue his career.

"As a player, he took a lot of pride in being a leader at the club and certainly got a lot out of that in helping young guys," he said.

"We genuinely believe he's got three, four years of good football left and not just with the football [side of things] but as a leader, and I think as a guy who can help develop young guys, he's a really good guy to have around your football club.

"[He] hasn't indicated that he'd prefer to stay in Victoria, he'll obviously go where he needs to go to continue his career, that's not a determining factor at this point."

Kaider said Moloney probably won't find a new home until next week partly due to Adelaide forward Kurt Tippett's decision to seek a trade.

"We've had some really good conversations this week with clubs, again, whether we get a deal done with anyone this week, probably unlikely, I think it's probably going to play out more into next week," he said.

"Tippett coming out and saying he wanted to leave Adelaide has certainly put a spanner in the works for a few guys."

Kaider said his two Port Adelaide free agents, Steven Salopek and Jacob Surjan were in a similar boat, despite revealing Surjan was keen to remain at the Power.

"Surjan, from our point of view, is certainly keen to continue at Port Adelaide. He'll obviously explore what the free agency market looks like, but I think his intention right now is to stay," he said.

"It's really subject to the coaching situation and the new coach and what they want to do.

"Salopek, on the other hand, he's made it pretty clear publicly that he's moving on.

"That'll play out over the next couple of weeks as well."

I was just listening to SEN and heard them mention that Mick Malthouse is a big fan of Jack Watts from Melbourne!

They also mentioned that Malthouse would love to get him over to Carlton.... Is this even possible?

Possible? YES

Probable? NO

Won't happen, as Melbourne couldn't risk Watts coming good somewhere else.

Possible? NO

Probable? Double NO.

Won't happen, as Melbourne rate Watts highly - what he's doing behind the scenes and at training has really impressed Neeld, just needs to get that strength and confidence into his match performances.

There is a thread on this in somewhere in this forum

But if you can't be bothered, everyone wants a mini draft pick. But the bulldogs and Gold coast look most likely

Just a silly throw away line probably manufactured by the media to keep things clicking over.

Must say that they're doing a good job keeping us talking here...........................and trade week hasn't even started.
