As much as I'd like a ready to go KPF, getting one with a salary cap that's bulging like a fat girl's panties is unrealistic. Whatsmore, a dominant midfield (which we should have) and a decent forward structure (which we must have) can make ordinary forwards look great. Toby Thurstans and Shame Ellen kicked 3 & 5 in Grand Finsls ffs.

We also need a genuine crumbing pressure small forward and outside pace to back up Polec and White. Stokes appeals to me. Can play both these roles, is from SA, will be asked to take a pay cut when Rodney Clangerfirld goes to Geelong.

If we could find the salary cap space, Stokes is far more realistic as he would be more likely to want to come and much cheaper than a KPF.
Isn't Stokes just Monfries not forced to play a forward tagging role?

Used to be on the Dixon bandwagon before the price got too high. Not so much about the salary he qould command but the picks we would have to use in a trade.
Now I'd go for May if GCS are willing to trade and give our younger KPPs as much gametime as possible.

Would you do this trade?

Moore/o'shea+ 3rd rounder for Kavanagh +2nd round
Considering Essendon will finish a few spots below us and need a bit of run and contested ball winning ability in their side, then both 2nd round picks or our first and second round on traded to Gold coast for day/bennell

Johnny Ralph saying Bennell almost certain to leave GC at the end of the year.

Is he close to Ken? Can he be straightened out? Could we get him for a song?
whats bennell like? i dont watch too many gcs games. obviously was a high draft pick, but has he come on?

our first and second picks and butcher or moore

for

bennell, day and their third rounder

Motlop has been delaying his contract talks with the cats too. Kane cornes thinks he will be involved in a danger trade, lets hope he liked watching his bro play for us

Wingard, Robbie Gray and Bennell in the one side would be the best midfield/half forward rotation in AFL history.

I'd love him here. Our first and second for him and Day would be a fantastic get. If anyone can sort his off-field issues out, Hinkley and Paul Vandenbergh can.

If adelaide block dangers move to Geelong as most of their fans seem to think it will just be the last little thing the players association needs to get rid of restricted agency. the biggest winners out of that is the players association.

Best comparison I can think of is an inconsistent Wingard. His best is marginally better given his midfield time.

Krak may have a large part in his recruiting if we want him. Was there with him in the first few years before Krak also went off the rails. I would suggest he and Hinkley would have a fair idea of the character of Harley.

dont know whether Harley would want to go home to wa , or just wants a new start. If it's a new start a home in adelaide makes sense as it's not so far from wa as he is now , but also allows him some freedom to start anew.

To be honest he isn't in an area that we really need it key forward or inside extractor but is a talented player that would make us better. He probably really suits the way we play when we are up and about.

Both are similarly awesome footballers, but Bennell is almost unrecognisable in stature and style from Wingard.

I don't think he's an irredeemable bad egg either, actions were immature and moronic but knowing people who know him I have never heard anything to suggest he's a culture killer or anything like that. Easily led astray. I guess it sounds a bit of an empty excuse considering everybody gets to choose what path they take regardless of peer pressure, but I think he'll turn himself around.

I realise Bennell is a super player BUT come on, the damage he could do to us could be enormous. Alleged drug taking before matches?!?!
It's a NO from me.

I don't know. If Adelaide match whatever offer there is for Dangerfield he might be happy to stay anyway. Also, just because a restricted FA offer is matched, doesn't mean the player must stay. It'll either force a trade or the player could walk.

Another GC name to throw out there; Seb Tape. 191cm defender who has recently been shifted to the midfield with great effect. 13th pick in the 2010 draft heaps of injuries most notably ACL in 2012/13. bit of depth

Yup would do that deal in a heart beat. It would cover our current needs for outside speed and class and a KPF.The only quiry would be how long Bennell may get if any of this drug scandal sticks.

We would have to trade hard to get back into the second round, this seems to not be a draft where you load up on late picks as we did last year.
