Quick recap. Draftees excluded.

Mids discussed:
Toumpas, Aish, McKensie, Bennell, Kavanagh, Motlop, Stokes, Hewett, Tape

I believe all of the above are unsigned.

Trengove has resigned.

KPPs:
Carlisle, Dixon, Gorringe, Tomlinson, Henderson

Hawkins, Stewart, Day and Lycett have been mentioned but are signed.

Tomlinson signed earlier this year as well. As for the others, Carlisle is not a good enough forward and we don't need another kpd. We can't afford Dixon while Gorringe will be lucky to stay on an afl list period. I'd take Henderson but I very much doubt he wants to leave Vic.

Another GC name to throw out there; Seb Tape. 191cm defender who has recently been shifted to the midfield with great effect. 13th pick in the 2010 draft heaps of injuries most notably ACL in 2012/13. bit of depth
Seb would be a good pick up if he came cheap - hard as nails. He would instantly become Ports best tackler.
Didn't know he was in the midfield

Not much of interest really. Only players I'd consider if the price is right: Aish, Tape, Hawkins, Day and Lycett. We don't need list cloggers.

Lol Gorringe. He is a delisting prospect for gc. Would consider a rookie spot a most , and then onLy if he spoke to us and shown some maturity since his antics last year. Redden is having a better year than gorringe in a stronger competition.

Toumpas - probably a no. Seems to lack leg speed. At most only for a swap of a fringe 22 player like Moore young Oshea and even then Ild rather not.

Aish - yes , talent is there , although I think he lacks standout skill to be a top mid , and hasn't oshown what I would say is some steady rate of improvement , he can be a very solid mid and would be a good pick up. I have some questions about how he has handled himself at Brisbane. Would not part with our first pick for him.

Mckenzie - meh. Huge kick , don't know. If he came cheap . Haven't seen enough of him. Know we are pretty good for back flankers but I really rate good kicks. Although Trent may be one of those guys who is a long kick rather than being a very good kick like similar to hartlett. Shouldn't be a huge target.

Bennell - super talent. Suits the way we play. Can win games off his own boot. Stupid decision making , needs to be sounded out on that. If he seems to be ok and shows signs of that being a one off mistake then bring him in.

Kavanagh - so so. liked pre draft footage. Offers something different to our young 2nd tier of mids in Moore young and amon. Would not part with Moore or young for him. 3-4th round pick or psd to be honest. Wouldn't mind adding him.to our list.

Motlop - haven't sen him this year how is his form? Would again suit the way we like to play. Get outside and use his speed. He would suit us. Not sure if I would part with our first and Geelong would want a mid teens pick. To get one of Bennell or Motlop would be a good addition to our side. Rate Bennells kicking a lot more though. Also Euston about motlops durability. Would part with our second and Oshea but not sure that gets it done .

Stokes - no way. Not even with a rookie spot lol

Tape - dunno. Has he even been playing in a team that can't even win a game? Not a mid , he is a flanker. Again , if he came cheap enough.

Hewett - dunno never seen him play..

I will emphasise again; tape has only recently been moved to the midfield in the last 4 weeks or so and performed well. He earned a recall so will be watching the game shortly to see where he plays aswell as keeping an eye out for day.

whats bennell like? i dont watch too many gcs games. obviously was a high draft pick, but has he come on?

our first and second picks and butcher or moore

for

bennell, day and their third rounder

Motlop has been delaying his contract talks with the cats too. Kane cornes thinks he will be involved in a danger trade, lets hope he liked watching his bro play for us
Bennell is an absolute jet, but has been a problem child too.

I am sure Ken and Shaun Hart would discuss whether he can be turned around.

Not sure it would be up to Ken and Shaun. It sounds like the AFL are looking at the best option for Bennell and are going to be actively involved in his attempt to break his drug habit. I'm imagining they may feel he's better off in his family environment but that's without knowing anything about his family.
Perhaps that sees him out west?

Ken and Shaun know him well from GC days.

The AFL won't try and force him to one club or another - hooking up with old friends in Perth might be the worst outcome for him.

If he is taking recreational drugs he is no different to probably 20-30% of young AFL players. I don't remember him causing any real trouble and it doesn't seem to be effecting his football.

He puts up Gray/Wingard type numbers every 2nd week. He is a jet, should be second priority after a key forward, but I bet the good guy image we are trying to keep will mean we don't chase him.

Bennell could become close to the best player in the AFL.
Could be but this " He's not suspended but he's not allowed to play" thing he has at the Suns does smell a little like a second strike? I'll back Caro in when on 3aw on Friday night when she said "there has been transgressions this year" It's not a one off thing, Harley has a problem.

That to one side if he were to come here if we were seen to be a good chance of helping him out I'm all for it. If he were to come here and everyone was going to pretend he didn't have a problem then wouldn't want him around.

Woodward was BOG for Box Hill again. Want.
Dunno. From memory 178-180 cms , and while he may be getting good stats at vfl level , I should remind you that youngs stats in the game v Norwood today probably blow those out the water , but still not many will call for his selection this week , and even less think yiung is even a remote chance of being selected

Some of those guys that dominate ressies level shouldn't automaticly be assumed to be able to replicate that form at afl level. To trade a pick for Woodward while we drop Moore and young the second they have an average game at afl level would be pointless imo.
