Summary:
Change DOD for Norm Byron to 27 February 1959.
I'm not sure its relevant as there seems to be 2 different ages given in 2 different notices but a November birth 1897 and a Feb 1959 death makes him 61

ie one notice says 60 - and 62 in the next one - which is also wrong

Yet AF has the right age

I did notice that, and checked his birth reg. on BDM. It does seem to come late in 1897, so 4 November that year for a DOB seems quite reasonable to me:

The spreadsheet containing the Goals, Behinds, and score changes for the batch of Hawthorn Games over the last year has been sent tonight to the AFL for them to update in their database.

Cheers

Hoping this one from 1926 was added?

Was it on the Corrections spreadsheet that was credited by... (I cant remember who, was it you, whoever the person doing all the qtr qtr changes were). If it isnt on there it will be on the next spreadsheet I sent with a lot of the 2024 and 2025 general footy changes down the track.

Hi everyone. If I'm doing this wrong or posting in the wrong spot please let me know. (No doubt Oliver G will!)

In the process of researching Essendon's Dave Currie for my book about one-gamers I have discovered that he appears to have not scored a goal as is recorded in Tables and Australian Football.

According to the Argus, the Australasian, Sportsman and Table Talk, the goal attributed to Currie was kicked by Abe Watson.

Official records also have Charlie Moore kicking 4 goals and Arthur Cleghorn 2, but all four papers, along with The Age, have Moore and Cleghorn each kicking 3.

The goalkickers are listed in these papers as follows:
Essendon: Hall 4, Cleghorn 3, Moore 3, Gavin 2, Barr, Tenbrink, Watson, Waugh
St Kilda: A Stewart 2, T Blake, Shaw, Smith

AFL Tables and Australian Football currently lists them as:
Essendon: Hall 4, Moore 4, Cleghorn 2, Gavin 2, Barr, Tenbrink, Currie, Waugh
St Kilda: A Stewart 2, T Blake, Shaw, Smith

Can I ask has anyone got the 2026 AFL Season Guide.
If so does First Kick, First Goal now show Vin Crowe, Harry Hickey, Mick Mulligan, John Duthie etc etc?
Did those changes permeate through
2025 Season Guide?! No, they're not there.

It doesn't look like any of the 'new' names have appeared, and there's no asterisks added to the Samson Ryan entry.

Edit: North's Finnbar Maley scored a goal with his first kick on debut last night: https://www.afl.com.au/afl/matches/7028#match-report

Jack Meagher (SM) is currently listed as born on 23 July 1930 and possibly still living.

I went looking to see if I could find him (or a record of his death), and think there is strong evidence that he has been mis-identified in league records. It seems pretty clear he was born earlier than 1930...

Apologies for the long post but here is a list of articles outlining the football career of Jack Meagher.
COBURG (Played Rd 1-3 1946)
Apr 1946 – “New players to make their debut are … J. Meagher (Cob. Seconds), ”
Apr 1946 –“Jack Titus, who has a leg injury, has notified Coburg he will play when fit. He is convinced that Jack Meagher, new centre forward, will ably fill the position.”
LORNE
July 1946 – “Permits granted last night: to Lorne: J. Meagher (Coburg)”
CARLTON (never played a senior game)
Apr 1947 - Named on Carlton’s supplementary list
May 1947 - “HAWTHORN is interested in Jack Meagher, who has applied to Carlton for a clearance. Meagher, a half-forward, is on Carlton’s supplementary list.”
Mar 1949 - “Other players seen to advantage in the main match were Bernie Boxton (centre half-forward), Jack Meagher (centre half-forward)…”
Mar 1949 - “Jack Meagher, of the Commonwealth Service, second best award winner in the Saturday Morning League,” has been signed
ST KILDA
Apr 1951 - “J. Meagher, who played with Coburg in 1946, trained at St. Kilda”
COBRAM
Apr 1951 - “Jack Meagher, 6ft. 1in tall and 14 stone in weight, who played forward for Coburg for one and a half seasons, has been appointed coach for the coming season at Cobram.”
HAWTHORN
Mar 1952 – “Newcomers last night were … Jack Meagher from Cobram and Frank Schwab from Burwood.”
EAST BALLARAT
May 1952 – “Jack Meagher, ex-Coburg, working in attack” for East Ballarat
SOUTH MELB
Mar 1953 - “Others who stood out included … Jack Meagher, follower from Ballarat, who kicked three goals while resting in attack.”
Apr 1953 - “Jack Meagher, who has yet to be cleared by East Ballarat, …”
Jun 1953 - “Promising Ballarat recruit Jack Meagher has been transferred by his employers to Queensland and may not be available this season.”
Aug 1953 - “(former) East Ballarat player Jack Meagher has been included as full forward for his first senior game.”
“He is less than 6 feet, but is a good mark and accurate kick.”
Sep 1953 - “These days it is the custom for League clubs to try out teenagers when searching for a centre forward. South's John Meagher is far removed from that class. He is aged 27, which will probably surprise many, who regarded him as a prospect for years ahead. Meagher has coached two country clubs, and for the last two years played with East Ballarat, although he lived in Coburg, travelling to and from Ballarat weekly.”
Mar 1954 - “Jack Meagher, who came from Ballarat last season and played in the last three games, is back again”
May 1954 - “South have given permission for… Jack Meagher, from Ballarat, who played poorly in the Footscray match, permission to train elsewhere.”

In summary, not overly successful at a senior level but based on Sep 1953 ref born ~1926 - which correlates with him playing Coburg reserves 1945.

Long post?!!

That April 1951 Cobram story also gives his age, though it suggests he'd have been born 1927-1928:
1746335958067.png
He's a hard man to track down! There were a few around at that time named Jack or John Meagher. The fact that this chap never seems to have stayed in the one place for long doesn't help!

A Meagher was playing for Commonwealth Service in the Saturday Morning League in 1947 also. So I presume that makes it likely he was a public servant. Could this be him?:
1746345249980.png
1746345294521.png
If it is J. B. Meagher this chap would be a fair chance, though he was a teacher in 1949, which doesn't seem to add up:
1746346392056.png
He played Seconds for Coburg as far back as 1944:
1746344499754.png

This also suggests he was born c. 1928, and has him living at St Kilda in 1951:
1746346258952.png
He coached Cobram in 1951, so may not have stayed (living) at St Kilda for too long.

Still looking!

Oliver G Gigz I've paid for the digitization of the 1931-1936 Richmond Guardian.
It's slowly being done as we speak.

SUMMARY : I notice it shows some stats for the 1934 Grand Final - Richmond v South Melbourne.
Your site already had stats for this match (is that perhaps from the Sporting Globe?), and these one below vary only slightly. So just making you aware. Not sure what you will do for any discrepancies but I will let you decide.
Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 10.43.37 PM.png

SUMMARY: This entry below also says 'Cocker' Strang (Gordon), has 18 marks for Round 5 1935 Richmond v Fitzroy

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 10.55.36 PM.png

SUMMARY: The 17 marks for O'Halloran that it refers to above , would be Round 3 1930 Richmond v Essendon.
Here's the match report from day. So O'Halloran has 17 marks, and Fosters 12 marks.

Current records have Wayne Shand (Richmond) wearing jumper #45 throughout his entire career, but looking over Footy Records from 1983 and 1984, it appears he wore #30 in those seasons.

Summary: Wayne Shand (Richmond) wore jumper #30 instead of #46 in 1983 and 1984.

Currently auditing every Richmond guernsey game by game.

Summary:
Bernie Lunn wore No.4 in Rd 15 - Rd 17 1925, not number 19 as currently on AFLT.
Lunn is listed as wearing Number 4 in Rd 16 1925 footy record, and so Ive made an assumption that he wore that number the week before as well and the week after.
Screenshot 2025-05-20 at 8.04.20 pm.png
That means however that Bob O'Neil's single game for Richmond in Rd 17 1925 couldn't be No.4 as well (as per AFLT), however as I am yet to cite Rd 17 1925 footy record I don't know what his number is, or if infact he wore No. 4
So I'm placing Lunn as No. 4 Rd 15-17, and leaving Bob O'Neil No.4 Rd 17 as well until the footy record surfaces
