Hawthorn

I was thinking how having good depth is the key to success and wanted to know how much depth each club has.

I will do Hawthorn:

Litherland
Duryea
Shoenmakers
Anderson
Hartung
Simpkin
O'Rourke
Ceglar
Woodward
O'Brien
Spangher
Whitecross? not sure if he's best 22 or not.
Grimley and Woodward? not sure if they count as depth.

I think I missed a couple people? If I did, Tell me

Hartung (7 games in 2014) probably should be on the list. Duryea (23 games in 2014, 18 in 2013) looks pretty well established to me.

I agree, Duryea is an established player but he is not yet in Hawthorns best 22 so he counts as Depth.

I will add Hartung to the list

I'd have had a go at a Collingwood list, but we've had so many personnel changes of late, and so many players out for long periods through injury, I'm not too sure of who's likely to be where at the moment!

Vardy, Menzel, Simpson - established but too many injuries have crueled them

Stanley - 58 games of spuddery
Walker - not established
Kersten - not established
Cowan - not established
Delaney - not established
Cunico, Bates, Gore, Gregson - not established
Luxford, Read, Toohey, Lucey - not established
Smedts - don't ever believe he will be up to it

Bews, Thurlow, McCarthy, Hartman all have between 5-10 games to their name. They are the players currently not in top 22 but should push up there next year.
Lang, Jansen, Kolodjashnij and Cockatoo have 0-1 games but would probably be the best 4 after those guys

Basically we're screwed. If we lose Lonergan+Enright like we did for our Sydney match this year we have no defense and will lose by 100 points

Probably would need to work out our best XXII, but based on a probable first choice team I would think the following would qualify

Grant, Hamling, Biggs, Hunter (Hrovat just ahead), Honeychurch, Redpath, Campbell (generally carry 1 ruck), A.Cordy, Roberts, Talia (based on 2014, should be first XXII), all 6 draftees, B.Goodes (supp list), Dickson

I may have missed one or two others, consider Johannisen best XXII.

I would not count all your draftees as Depth. Some players dont qualify for depth. They have to have played at least 1 game to qualify as depth

North's depth seems in good stead for 2015 (though it often does at this time of year...).
Tall defenders: Tippett, Firrito
Small defenders: Mullett, McMahon, Warren
Inside mids: Dumont, Jacobs,
Outside mids: Bastinac, McKenzie
Tall forwards: Tarrant, Daw, Brown, Wood
Small forwards: Adams, Harper, Garner,
Rucks: Currie

Ruck depth is the only worry. Bar Currie we just have the undersized Daw, a basketballer in Wallace and a rugger ball player in Preuss.

Hawthorn:

Tall Defenders: Schoenmakers, Spangher
Small Defenders: Litherland, Duryea
Outside/Inside Mids: Simpkin, Anderson, O'Rourke, Whitecross
Inside Mids: Woodward
Outside Mids: Hartung
Ruck: Ceglar
Forward/Ruck: Grimley
Tall Forwards: O'Brien
Small Forwards: Nothing Really
We have Don't really have a small Forward but we have Sicily and Willsmore coming through + the flexibility of the team and spread of goal scorers. I don't think thar will be a big Problem. The likes of Simpkin, Anderson and Lewis can go Forward though too.
Decent Ruck Depth, If Big Boy gets injured we Have Ceglar and If Hale gets in jured we have Grimley or Spangher even.
I think Ceglar might take over Hale as the 2nd ruck sometime this year though and If he does I reckon Hale might retire alongside Lake.
Whitecross might break through leaving his injuries behind him.
Anderson, Hartung and Duryea will play a combined 50+ games.

I just started going into a few theories I have, Anyway. Tell me What you think
