It does depend on how you define "best".

I think that for anything with reduced prices because of near used by / best before dates that is in a competition of it's own. And nothing can be entered on that list until you've eaten it + 48 hours, to prove that each item was not fatal.

Shopping today, I found an expensive item in the refrigerated meals section, at full price with a use by date of 6 days ago. That was impressive. And could be grounds for a different competition than the variations discussed above.
