MATCHED !!!

FREO GET 7-8-9

Pick 9: Liam Henry (Fremantle)

Fremantle next generation academy small forward Liam Henry is a Docker after the club matched Carlton's bid.
Henry has been compared to Michael Walters for his explosiveness in attack.
Carlton has made no secret of its desire to add a small forward to its ranks, attempting to trade for Tom Papley but missing out on the Sydney star.
The Blues instead landed veteran Eddie Betts from Adelaide and bidded for Henry, however the Dockers matched after a swap of later picks with Port Adelaide

Pick 10: Tom Green (GWS Giants)

GWS academy star Tom Green has joined the Giants after they matched another Carlton bid.
GWS had little hesitation matching the Blues' bid, having traded from pick 4 to pick 6 before the draft to ensure they landed two young guns.
The Giants took dashing defender Lachlan Ash with pick 4.
Some experts rate Green, a 190cm midfielder, as the best player in this draft.

What Bucky says: He’s a big and strong inside midfielder who can bullock through traffic in a similar style to Patrick Cripps. He sets up the game from midfield. He improved his endurance this season, which has led to better numbers more consistently.
What Sheehan says: A big-bodied medium midfielder who excels at stoppages using his clean hands and vision to set up his team on the outside.

Gold Coast upto 11 !!

Pick 11: Sam Flanders (Gold Coast)

Mooted as a top-five selection, Sam Flanders has headed to Gold Coast after the Suns traded picks 17 and 22 to Carlton for pick 11.
Likened to Christian Petracca for his explosiveness and ability inside-50, Flanders kicked four goals in the first half of a NAB League grand final this year to enhance his draft claims.
A Gippsland Power product, the 182cm Flanders has one of the great upsides of any player in this draft and was rated as the third-best prospect by recruiting guru Gary Buckenara.

What Bucky says: He has a big upside because he does things on talent – eye-catching things like taking big marks, kicking freakish goals and being very clean in plucking the ball off a pack.
What Sheehan says: Powerful medium forward/midfielder who has impacted matches all year, with his contested ball winning ability and strength in one-on-one contests real features of his play.

Pick 12: Kysaiah Pickett (Melbourne)

What Bucky says: He’s capable of taking a big mark so there’s a lot to like about his ability. He needs to become a lot fitter as his impact on games at this stage is done in bursts
What Sheehan says: Strong, aggressive and powerful small forward/midfielder with exciting speed and natural goal sense.

HAWKS' DAY OUT
Hawthorn have used pick No.13 to secure Will Day, a half-back flanker with footy smarts coming out his ears. Day's grandfather Robert played in its 1971 premiership.

Pick 13: Will Day (Hawthorn)

The first draftee not in the building tonight.
Will Day, from West Adelaide, is a medium defender who impressed for South Australia at the under-18 national carnival and has been selected by Hawthorn.
Could he be the replacement for Grant Birchall long-term across halfback?
At 189cm, he certainly fits the bill.
What Bucky says: He has good athleticism and provides great impetus off half back, where he was a consistent performer for South Australia and often set his team up with his running patterns to link up attacking moves.
What Sheehan says: Lightly built medium defender who showed strength overhead and speed for South Australia in the 2019 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.

Pick 14: Miles Bergman (Port Adelaide)

Sandringham Dragon Bergman won fans for his ability to hurt opposition from few disposals in the NAB League.
He's battled a few injuries but has the natural talent recruiters and clubs are looking for.
"He can play anywhere," David King says of the 189cm Bergman.

What Bucky says: He’s not a high possession-winner but he makes things happen when he gets the ball. He’s just one of those playmakers.
What Sheehan says: Has natural speed and power and has been a consistent performer this year at club, school and representative levels.

Pick 15: Cody Weightman (Western Bulldogs)

Small forward Cody Weightman was spotted touring Whitten Oval recently and now he'll be calling the Western Bulldogs home.
He's drawn comparisons to Jamie Elliott as a small forward who enjoys flying for a mark.
Weightman was linked with Melbourne before the Demons zeroed in on Kozzie Pickett, who they snapped up with pick 12.

What Bucky says: Weightman likes to fly for his marks, a trait in small forwards which has come to the fore in recent years, so expect some strong interest from clubs looking for this type of player.
What Sheehan says: Small forward who presents well, using his anticipation and strength with his overhead marking to be a lively target. Very good one-on-one player who can turn his opponent inside out and has innate goal sense.

Pick 16: Cooper Stephens (Geelong)

The Cats have selected local boy and draft bolter Cooper Stephens.
Stephens broke his leg this year but showed his athleticism when he returned and produced eye-catching numbers at the draft combine.
At 188cm, he's a tough on-baller who loves contested footy. Cue the Joel Selwood comparisons….

What Bucky says: A big-bodied midfielder, Stephens is a ball winner who thrives in contested situations. He broke his leg in April, which meant he didn’t play in the championships, but he was fit for the draft combine where he really impressed.
What Sheehan says: He uses the ball particularly well by foot and started the season in excellent form, averaging 25 disposals in the first two games before fracturing his leg
