MR Vosso's houghts

Pick 45 : Brant Colledge , Perth

He's a 192cm mobile utility . He's played majority forwad but potentially can play back as well in that third tall mould . He's a really good young man who we ranked quite highly , so we are delighted he was available at our pick . He was someone we tracked through the entire year . I think he'll be more of a development player , but he is a really good young man and he's fairly physically developed . He had a bad ankle injury this year . He'll take a little bit of time , but not all that long . And he'll be knocking down the door , I'm sure .

What I think he really means is we are really pissed on missing out on Marsh but Brant is a good young man and Murray has given us a few headaches this week so Brant makes up for that !

Pick 59 : Adam Carter , South Fremantle

Adam is areally good young man from South Freo . He can play either as a midfielder or as a small to medium back . He's a very disciplined player , very hard at it , and has really good skills , particularly by foot . He's played for WA in the last two carnivals , so he's very well known . We ranked him a fair bit higher then where he was avialable to us .

What I think he really meant was we have lost Koby Stevens and Tom Swift this year , neither of them could kick so at least we got Adam who is a great kick and is a law student so he is nearly as bright as Tommy .

Pick 60 : Mark Hutchings , ST Kilda / West Perth

He's 21 years old . He had a year at St Kilda , and has played the past two seasons in the WAFL . He's a former WA under 18 captain , and a really good young man who has gone back and done a hell of a lot of work at West Perth . He's an elite midfielder in the WAFL . He polled over 50 votes in the Sandover Medal this year . We're thrilled to have him on our list and thrilled to give him another chance . Hopefully some good things lie ahead for him because he's done it the hard way . He's a physically mature body , so I'm sure he'll do everything he possibly can to get a shot early in the NAB Cup .

What I think he really means , Ross Lyon was an absolute prick for sacking Mark after one season , we gave him time to recover and we think he is in right to go now ! Plus he's a good guy !

Talking about reading between the lines.

I know little of any players discussed, but if Garlett is of value why didn't any clubs take him?

Also if Hutchings managed to be runner up in the Sandover - wasn't he better than swift and co?
probably yes hutchings would be better(or just as good) than those guys but some people carry a torch for swift/stevens and absence makes the heart grow fonder

I thought that we were going to go for a speedy midfielder ? We don't seem to me to have secured one in the draft. Wellingham is the closest I think.

Wellingham adds pace, Cripps and Morton aren't slow and will run all day.

Dick and Le Cras will push Hill down the field and Hams / McGinnity out of the side.

If Sheppard can get over that ankle and have a big pre season he is ready to make his mark.

Ash Smith may see more midfield time as well with no injuries down back.

The club have obviously seen something in these blokes.
Our draft looks something like this..
17 - Sharrod Wellingham
40/44 - Jamie Cripps
45 - Brant Colledge
59 - Adam Carter
60 - Mark Hutchings
79 - Brad Dick
88 - Cale Morton

Now, think of whether we had those picks to use from scratch in the draft - I don't think we would have done quite as well in the long term, whether we have now still remains to be seen, but we know at least two, maybe three of those guys can play at AFL level straight up.

I'm reasonably happy with how we've done this offseason.

I'd wager that all of those bar Colledge and Hutchings will play in 2013.
I would've thought Hutchings might get a crack being mature age?
But I think you're right but hopefully not, means injuries stay away ;)

Maybe they see will schofield like potential in him in regards to facial hair

I really don't understand the Hutchings call, baffling.

Especially after taking Carter. How many 180cm midfielders do we need? I know Hutchings tested well but he really does not play fast at all. On the positive side he will be a complete professional and a good team mate. Good luck to him.
