does anyone know the progress on Mcgovern and tunbridge? Both are forwards and was wondering if both or either are likely to get upgraded to the main list eventually.I see that posters here are divided on Mcgovern but Tunbridge seems to fly under the radar.
Is it too late to delist tunbridge before the rookie draft as there is some clear talent left out there and i think bolger, rodda and garlett would be good pick ups for us

Tunbridge is performing very well in the preseason. Not sure what role he will play at AFL level but he is in no danger of getting delisted before next season.

Loving the Garlett theory's on the mainboard, apparently its called the "darling" move...
(hiding/making up rumours about players so we can pick them up for nothing)..
I live for this shit...;)

was Gaff such an obvious pick though?? Seem to remember at the time a few on here criticising the club for not picking Polec, and that Gaff was "too vanilla"
Vanilla wins you flags. Look at Sydney, I mean with the exception of Jetta and maybe Goodes (not to the extent previously) they are vanilla.
Hawthorn - Buddy Cyril etc no flag.
Can't draft a side full of x factors for the sake of having hope they might pull out the extraordinary sometimes. We've already got that ;)

As much as I would like Garlett do we think the best thing for him may be to get away from Perth? I was reading the article in the west online interesting and found this interesting "I would be happy to go interstate-away from all the dramas of my mates in Perth"

I think people hoping for Garlett are going to be disappointed.

He would have a much better chance interstate IMO but he will also have the return home factor.

A few clubs will be doing their due diligence with him you would think between now and the next draft so he may still end up somewhere.

I personally think it would be better for him to stay where his parents and swans support network is. Reading the most recent article it does sound like he comes from a supportive family

If Garlett wasn't taken in the main draft I highly doubt he will be taken at all.
Depends, I'm sure he'll be in contact with a number of teams from now to the rookie draft and might even get invited to train somewhere. But yeah, the problem lies with his off-field issues. If he doesn't get picked up, he will need to really knuckle down and be 100% dedicated to his footy to get picked up next year. Could be a great pick up next year under these circumstances.

Avoiding bringing together Garlett and Newman is not conservative, it's a no brainer. We can have one troubled kid in our side to try and fix, but having two together would be so, so risky.

I'm sure we probably would like to have both players in our squad, but their connection considering the position Newman is in means it's just not possible.

With regard to these "troubled" type of kids. An old story regarding employing boys.

If you employ a boy, you have a boy. If you employ two boys, you have half a boy. If you employ three boys, you have no boys!!!

Who? The post wasn't meant as a sledge, although people have taken it as such. Besides, I thought everyone on this board loved Hams? It is what it is.
If you went on the graphics design board, you'd understand :thumbsu:
Don't mind Hams myself - for a little bloke he sure plays like a bigger bloke.

I don't see why we would want draft Garlett when he's known to have some off field issues and publicly admits he hates West Coast.
I'm not sure I see him getting taken as a rookie this year, Possibly clean his act up and get drafted next year by Freo

Are you referring to the FB group he belongs to, or is there more to it?

Saying you hate a club isn't going to stop that club from drafting you. The only reason relating to it that would affect the clubs decision is if they think that the player isn't capable of overcoming their hatred of the club. If that were the case then I don't see how that player would have the mentality to make it in the AFL anyway.

Yer but when you put everything together it all adds up, even other clubs would look at that and think it's not the smartest thing to do...
And also I'm not sure if your agreeing with me or disagreeing with me, or both :thumbsu:

Quite interesting that everyone is talking how the STEAL OF THE DRAFT was Membrey going to Swans yet we picked Colledge ahead of him.

What disappoints me is that we seem to pick the same size/type of player every fricken year. I don't know but i'd just love to see some variety like a rangy linebreaker or perhaps a tall midfielder once in a while. Seems we always pick the same small midfielder/back flanker type every single time.

Thought Mascoulis might finally something different but.... noooooo. You had to be Quaid.
