Pretty good game of soccer that.

I thought the referee was full of shhit. 2 blatant handballs which should of resulted in penalties to Manchester were unbelivably 'missed' by the referee.

McAllister scored in the 1st minute with a very soft penalty from a stupid altho fastly becoming regular dirty Roy Keane act. Was a bit soft and could of been let go. Was funy how the umpire blew the whistle a split second after it happened yet let the two handballs go unnoticed  Pathetic!!!

Owen scored a very good goal in the 16th minute (i think) which took the scouse bastards out to a 2-0 lead.

After about the 25th minute it was all Manchester United.

Van Nistelrooy proved his worth with a few very good moves and a very good goal early in the second half.
Man United after that had about 90% of the play and Keane had 2 or 3 great strikes on goal but Westerveld was little short from fantastic in goals.

The referee favoured Liverpool noticably i thought...a number of soft frees were paid in their favour but the same things would go unnoticed the other way....like Beckham getting kicked in the stomach, and the 2 handballs (how could you not pay them??)

In the second or third minute Man United were very lucky not to give away another penalty but it was just outside the area.

A great game of soccer.

Silvestre has come a long way since last year and could be a regular last year...it was fantastic to see Irwin back in the jumper as well!!

Liverpools new signing Riise was fantastic, as was Westerveld in goals.

Scholes played like absolute crap - and i must wonder how he continues to get a game...you rarely see a great game from him and he makes a LOT of errors every time he plays.

The referee was nothing short of shocking tho. He missed the 2 handballs, he never paid advantage when it was obvious and tended to pull frees out of his arse more often than not. That went both ways too.

Looking forward to the season now!!! NOT LONG NOW!!!

Nothing soft about it Macca, a blatant penalty.

On the two handballs, one of them (I forget which) wasn't as it came off the defenders body and onto his arm (unintentionally). The 2nd one was probably there.

The refereing was of a poor standard, to both sides, but in particular in paying advantage when it should have been brought back and vice-versa.

Winners are grinners :D

Soory Macca but as a neutral I have no axe to grind against either club.......that 1st minute penalty was as obvious as they come, but I do agree with you, the referee was crap and looked like he lost control of the game at times. Even Keane laughed at him when he didn't pay advantage and pulled a Liverpool attack back early in the second half.

And I agree with Hilly, to pay that first penalty would have been a bit unfair, the second was pretty blatant however.

Great atmosphere at the game too.

Roll on Ipswich this Saturday.

H'way the Lads!!

The season hasn't even started and already the Man U fans are sooking about the referees! :p

Thought it was a good match, probably should have been 2-2, but Sander had another good game in goal.

And that was a blatant penalty, can't believe you are even complaining about it.

Van Nistelrooy played a good game though, he looks like class, as does Riise for us.

Anyway, I guess they'll be building a new trophy cabinet down at Anfield to fit in all that new silverware!!! :p ;) :D

Bring on Saturday...this is the year of the Reds, they have the wood over Man U.

All this whingeing about the Refs Macca man, Princess Fergusson would be proud of you.

lol

Macca - do you even know the laws of the game????

Liverpool's was a blatant hack and a definite penalty

THe first Henchoz handball was not a penalty
The second one clearly was

The reason why is that if the ball strikes the hand it is play on, or if the hand strikes the ball it is an infringement.

For the second incident Henchoz dived sideways which deliberately put his arm in the path of the ball, and therefor when the ball struck the arm it was a penalty.

The ref must have been blind but Stefan has an amaxing run of luck with penalties.

He got away with one in the Worthington Cup Final and the FA Cup final and now one in the Charity shield.

I thought Liverpool played better in the first half but United dominated the game in the second and Liverpool were only saved by Westerveld.

Both sides played in a formation that will not be used in the Premier League I would imagine.

United will start Yorke or Cole with Rudi Van N and obviously Veron will play in the middle.

Liverpool will probably use both Gerrard and Litmanen in midfield and maybe even Berger.

Carragher should also be favoured over Risse due to his outstanding season last year.

The striker rotation will also occur again I would imagine.

Owen and Van N's finishes were top class I thought. A thoroughly entertaining game.

Charity Shield was a good name for that match!! Liverpool got all the charity from the ref :D ;)

Liverpool 2 - 1 Man Utd, make note of that scoreline you Manc Scum fans, it'll be the same both times this season in the league, and when we meet in the final of the Champions League, Liverpool winning all three games! :thumbsu:

I laughed at "Year of the Reds" - that still hasn't happened and 07/08 will be no different. Liverpool will be celebrating 3rd yet again this season.

Djibril - it's time to follow Cousins into rehab (no doubt another binge on the way there).
