Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

Yes LLoyd is a soft coward.
Tell us, what exploits have you completed or what undeniable study have you excelled in that shows that in the moment when you're life is ****ed, you won't run crying to mum as most of us would? You might have balls of iron or not, but we're talking about putting all on the line. You call Lloyd a coward? I'd call him not a genius from his interviews, but words are cheap, and when it's time to put your body where it counts, his record's good.

Was at the game.. Lloyd is a dirty dog!!!
Even tried to take out bateman like the dog he is..

Did he even kick a goal??

Yeah he tried to break Bateman's outstretched arm with his neck.

And Bateman would never try to bump someone for advantage? By the way, Lloyd is the captain of the team. If the team wins, and wins like they did, he's done his job. And he did not snipe.

Lloyd is hardly the first AFL player in the twilight of their career to turn to thuggery because they can no longer help their team purely through skill.

Byron Pickett, Alastair Lynch, there are lots more examples out there.

Buddy Franklin springs to mind. Has been crap all year, so goes for thuggery.

People here are ridiculous - 2 guys going for the ball = contact. One guy KO'ed. So what?

his season has been worse then last year i agree
although hats off to matty lloyd who has capped off a magnificent season
reminds me of zinedine zidane's headbutt

No but he fired his team up - enough to overrun the opposition.

Re: The difference between the Lloyd and Franklin bumps

Hurley dived forward whilst going for the mark. The Hawthorn player was just in the way and it was an accidental hit. I haven't seen it on replay but that's what it looked like live at the ground.

They replayed it on the screen at the game, Hurley was on the ground after diving for the mark, the Hawk player came in seconds later & deliberately kicked Hurley in the head, it happened right in front of where we were sitting.

The bump changed the game.

Hawthorn weren't the same after it. Best hit of the year. May have won the game for his team, as the one bump seemed to shift momentum for an hour's worth of footy.

Lloyd will probably go because the tribunal don't like head high contact. A lot may hinge on the definition of the bumping rule. Buddy went because he could have tackled, but chose not to. Lloyd didn't have the same opportunity to tackle, but the tribunal may frown upon it, because of words like "reckless" and all that...

Can we lay off Buddy? He didn't do anything that was illegal in all his career. The guy's a ****ing genius. For the same reasons I don't get why Lloyd putting his (much bigger) body on the line is a crime. **** me, when you step out on the ground, you choose to match it with the rest on the ground. I brook no sniping, but hard bumps are to be expected.....

I don't get the "well Buddy did it" bullshit. Well **** me, five years ago, everybody did it. Doesn't that tell you something?

Your kidding, so bloody biased. Buddy gets 2? Lloyd must get 2 min.

It doesn't matter if he meant it or not. He was nudged at the last minute by your man.

There's enough doubt to get him off.

It will be a sweet victory when the tribunal lets him off. Almost as good as today's win. :D

Suck it up whingers.

I can't believe the overreaction of some on here, and the commentators as well. He will probably get suspended, and fair enough, but you would think it was one of the worst acts ever perpetrated on a field the way some are going on.

Lloyd was just running at speed to the contest/ball, and then delivered a heavy bump which was somewhat influenced by his Hawthorn opponent pushing him into the contest. Unfortunately it caught him flush in the head, but similar incidents often happen and its a fine line between getting knocked out cold and walking away. I think the resultant injury/brawl/commentary exaggerates what actually happened.

If you call that a push from the hawthorn player then Lloyd really should go down as the weakest player to play the game.

Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

Unlike the Buddy one, that does look reckless. Presumably it will have a bigger sentence, even without Lloyd's record. If Buddy's was worth two, I'm guessing that has to be 4-5 weeks. (But Buddy's wasn't worth two, or even scrutiny.)

Get it straight - Buddy only got ONE WEEK for the incident. Suspended for two because he contested the decision.

I may be bias, but from my view Matty hit him the way he did completely unintentionally, unlike Buddy, and he was seemed to be going for the ball. Lloyd possibly reckless though, but I can't really tell from the limited replays. MRP might give 1-2 weeks at most if anything at all.

he is gone, i thought buddy would go, think about your first reaction if it was "thats trouble" its a good indicator. On another note, Campbell Brown gave Lloyd a whack on Radio after the game, and Gus Monfries just whacked Brown back on before the game, the bad blood between these two clubs keeps boiling, Lloyd will prob get offered 3, Ryder 2 or 1, Lonergan Might be up and Bateman might also get looked at.

Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

he will go and it's rubbish imo. it looked like he was gioing for the ball and these things have happened before3 and no one has been suspended for it. he should not be suspended for this. i said the same thing with buddy and i cant see how they can suspend him

Was going for the ball (unlike Franklin), so shouldn't get anything. Will probably get 2, plead down to 1 (Essendon aren't stupid enough to contest). I'm sure Kennett and Eddie will be out there pleading his case too.

Campbell Brown really makes me laugh though. Commenting after the game about a bloke who most likely will retire. Soft as butter. And a slapper.

Not probably. Must.

He had opportunity to tackle and Sewell had his head over the ball. 5-10 years ago we would all have said "fair bump" and moved on. Cuz had a red mark on his neck, Sewell has a shiner.

And let's not forget the deeming provisions. A "reasonable" action doesn't allow you to skate through. The outcome is what counts now.

But if Buddy gets two weeks, then this is 3-4 weeks. Simple. What is left of the credibility of the AFL tribunal is on the line.
