Sure, it was a heavy hit and Lloyd will be gone, but honestly there was zero malice/intent in it - just one of those things that happens on a football field. I have no idea why everyone is so fired up about this.

Brown is weak as piss. That is a given after the circumstances yesterday. He had plenty of time to retaliate but cowardly waited until after the game to do something. That isn't the issue.

The issue if how hypocritical Hawks fans are being from last weeks events. Pathetic people.
Such a tough guy aren't ya.

Compare Buddy's and Lloyd's. Lloyd has always been a dirty player against us for some reason. It was pathetic and showed everything of a washed up player who should have retired last year. He is frustrated and can't mark, run or get near the ball so has to use such pathetic, dirty tactics. Not surprising coming from your club.

Re: Brian Taylor on Matty Lloyd

Intention isn't taken into account if there is head high contact. If a player intends to bump fairly, but the oncoming player drops his head, the bumper is penalised as though he meant it.

The rule explicitly says it doesn't matter what was intended, only the results count when it comes to the head.

I agree you need to penalise blatant head high contact, but let's not throw the baby out w the bathwater

As I said and conclusively proved in my post, intention is taken into account. It is not totally a get out of jail free card though. But it is taken into account and impacts the severity of the penalty. If it is high, low impact and negligent (or reckless whichever is the lower one), then you can get off with a reprimand. With a good record, you can get off with a reprimand with the higher (still not intentional) one.

The rule explicitly states it does not matter whether the bump was reasonable or unreasonable, I think you are getting confused with that. Intention comes into account when assessing the penalty though.

Re: The Official Neutral Lloyd/Sewell Thread

1) Did Lloyd intentionally injure Sewell? No. He isn't that sort of player.

2) Is there a difference between the Buddy incident and the Lloyd incident Marginally. Lloyd was a lot lower the buddy was. But they both ended up with the same result.

3) Essendon are arguing that Lloyd was pushed - what are your thoughts? Was definitely pushed. I think the moment he was pushed was when Lloyd changed his mind from a tackle to a bump.

4) How many weeks do you think Lloyd will get Unfortunately 3-4

5) How many weeks do you think Lloyd should get 0-1. People always complain that the game is turning soft. I personally don't want to see anyone injured the way Sewell was, but in saying that, I dont want to bump to go out of the game, it is a part of it.

Re: Brian Taylor on Matty Lloyd

Essendon supporters are embarassing, talking up your pathetic washed up captains bump as being awesome and fair, can't imagine what kind of human beings they resemble.

Re: Brian Taylor on Matty Lloyd

Hilarious.

You are using the opinion of Tony Shaw as a defence?

Nothing surprises me from the Hawthorn crew.

They really do go to the extremes to make their club look good. However, every opposition supporter can see past the smoke-screen they put up.

Re: Brian Taylor on Matty Lloyd

Hilarious.

You are using the opinion of Tony Shaw as a defence? I can't wait for the Lloyd sympathisers to bring out Dougie Hawkins as a retort!

Seriously is that all you have?

I think he was more talking about the hypocrisy of some commentators.

Edit: oops, just re-read no he was being serious!

Re: The Official Neutral Lloyd/Sewell Thread

1) Did Lloyd intentionally injure Sewell? No. I don't think Lloyd is that type of person and he seemed genuinely sorry afterwards. I think his sole intention was to bump.

2) Is there a difference between the Buddy incident and the Lloyd incident? Yes, not much but AFL may take the view that Lloyd had plenty of time to go in lower.

3) Essendon are arguing that Lloyd was pushed - what are your thoughts? Pushed to an extent, but Lloyd contributed to it himself. He definitely wanted to bump Sewell, if he didn't have that intention, then I'm not sure the push would have stopped him. (Disclaimer: I don't play the sport, so I wouldn't know I guess.)

4) How many weeks do you think Lloyd will get? 3 weeks.

5) How many weeks do you think Lloyd should get? None.

He will get offered 4 weeks by the MRP, this according to Graeme Bond, statistician and tribunal reporter.

The Tony Shaw quotes are an add-on and are echoed by just about every media commentator.

The people who are equating Lloyd's hit to Franklin's just don't have a case at all

And yet here they are

Re: Brian Taylor on Matty Lloyd

The hit was high so I guess he has to go.

However there was ZERO intention on Lloyd's behalf to get him high, it was an unavoidable collision.

You got it right shellfish...fair assessment. All the other talk is just Hawk supporters (and Kings Army who hates Essendon....and we love him for it) crying like babies because things didn't go their way.

Re: The Official Neutral Lloyd/Sewell Thread

1-NO just wanted to try and lift his team
2-YES Big difference Buddys was a bump Lloyd was running through (as stated in A1)
3- Just trying to get a defense up and running
4- 4 weeks
5- 4 weeks

Re: Brian Taylor on Matty Lloyd

The offence will be judged as a single event so there is no point talking about the 'Buddy Bump'.

Conduct: Intentional: The player made deliberate contact, no attempt to tackle or to avoid head high contact.
Impact: Severe: contact severe enough to knock Sewell unconscious and into a third player.
Contact: High: head high contact was made

9 Activation points

LEVEL: TRIBUNAL

makes 550 points not including any carry over points meaning +4 games according to the tribunal system

Re: The Official Neutral Lloyd/Sewell Thread

To all neutral supporters, I'm more interested in your views on the incident than the biased opinions of myself and other hawthorn or essendon supporters.

The critical questions in regard to this incident are:

1) Did Lloyd intentionally injure Sewell?
2) Is there a difference between the Buddy incident and the Lloyd incident
3) Essendon are arguing that Lloyd was pushed - what are your thoughts?
4) How many weeks do you think Lloyd will get
5) How many weeks do you think Lloyd should get

Hawk and Bomber supporters - try not to clog up this thread with mud slinging "Yor A HiPPoCrit CampBELL PoO Brown LOLZ" crap. In fact, try not to post at all - we're inherently biased.

Good thread - great to not hear Ess bias crap.

1) Did Lloyd intentionally injure Sewell? - Yes

2) 2) Is there a difference between the Buddy incident and the Lloyd incident -Yes - cous was up right and got bumped by a bigger man - Lloyd charged in a hit a bloke with his head over the ball.

3) Essendon are arguing that Lloyd was pushed - what are your thoughts? Its a weak theory - you would not move many flies with the amount of force. I would not call it a push but just a hand on Lloyd tracking him into play.

4) How many weeks do you think Lloyd will get - 4 reduces to 3 with an early plea.

5) How many weeks do you think Lloyd should get - 6

No I didn't see it I was walking the dog oops sorry I did it again.

Re: Brian Taylor on Matty Lloyd

Essendon supporters are embarassing, talking up your pathetic washed up captains bump as being awesome and fair, can't imagine what kind of human beings they resemble.

And the hypocrisy of many Hawthorn supporters is even more pathetic.

Re: The Official Neutral Lloyd/Sewell Thread

1) Did Lloyd intentionally injure Sewell?- Yes
2) Is there a difference between the Buddy incident and the Lloyd incident- Yes it is worse.
3) Essendon are arguing that Lloyd was pushed - what are your thoughts? If you believe that made a difference, you believe in Fairies in the garden - yes, he was touched but it made no difference
4) How many weeks do you think Lloyd will get- 4 weeks
5) How many weeks do you think Lloyd should get - 6 weeks

Re: The Official Neutral Lloyd/Sewell Thread

1) Did Lloyd intentionally injure Sewell?Don't think so. Not in his nature.
2) Is there a difference between the Buddy incident and the Lloyd incidentYes, Lloyds was worse but according to the law they are basically the same.
3) Essendon are arguing that Lloyd was pushed - what are your thoughts?Using any argument they can to get him off - just like any other club would.
4) How many weeks do you think Lloyd will get3-4
5) How many weeks do you think Lloyd should get5-6, early plea and good record will reduce to 3-4

What part of neutral is an Essendon supporter????

It has nothing to do with me being a tough guy. Questions should be asked from the Hawks faithful why he chose the gutless route of the media instead of settling his differences on the field when he had 2 quarters to show the footy public why he is so tough:eek:
He is the footballer. They have to be tough to go out there every week yet all he resorted to was slapping Monfries on the shoulder (WTF? WTF are you doing you little germ?), mouthing off at our bench :)rolleyes:) and then defaming Lloyd after the game.

Why didn't he do something DURING the game? Explain that, champ.

Re: The Official Neutral Lloyd/Sewell Thread

1) Did Lloyd intentionally injure Sewell?
No.

2) Is there a difference between the Buddy incident and the Lloyd incident
Yes, Buddy bumped cousins with a conventional bump that accidently hit high. Lloyd was going for the ball and hit Sewell front on accidently

3) Essendon are arguing that Lloyd was pushed - what are your thoughts?
He was pushed, although the push wasn't the reason he hit him. He was running for a contested ball, Sewell got it and he collided with him. The push didn't help, he would've hit him anyway.

4) How many weeks do you think Lloyd will get
1-2 weeks

5) How many weeks do you think Lloyd should get
0 weeks

Favourites is upset little Matty has had his reputation tarnished and couldn't substantiate his claim against Hawthorn. FWIW, in the cold light of day, what Brown said was silly and could well yet get him sued, but I admire his desire to defend his teammates.

I couldn't care less about Lloyd. I just cant get over Hawthorn supporters playing the Lloyd is a dog card. Your team has been playing outside the rules for two years in a similar matter. The 12 suspensions in that small time frame added with more than likely two more from yesterday makes 14 suspensions in less than 2 years.

I am the only person in the argument that isn't biased. I have no agenda as my team wasn't involved. I hate hawks, i hate bombers. But most of all I hate hypocrites.
