Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

Are you for real?? It does not matter if it is 1930, 1960 or 2009. What Lloyd did was a dog act and something like that in footy will always lead to you coping a few back. Coward sniping dogs get there just rewards. And yes - Lloyd is one.

You are kidding aren't you?
Lloyd is a great hard footballer, what he did to Sewell was great I applauded when I was watching. A great captains act to turn the game on its head. The soft Hawks had nothing from there other than C ambell Browns small man syndrome act, how pathetic.

Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

Lloyd fair enough he's probably gone for a couple weeks. But I hope they don't suspend people for all those little tiggy touchwood slaps/punches. Otherwise Essendon wont have a team next week and Hawthorn might aswell not field a team in round 1 next year.

Re: The game's gone soft

Yep - nothing better than watching guys getting knocked out senseless and being carried off unconscious in a neck brace on a stretcher. Thats what we all come to see - should be much more of it.

I dont think he meant just that moment in the game. The game goes for 2 hours, not the couple of seconds when that unfortunate hit happened.

And that was a ripping game.

Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

To hear the Hawks fans and some other assorted lloyd/Essendon haters it's as if he lined him up with shoulder from 10 metres away and he elected to bump him in a "dog act". Hall hitting Staker was a "dog act" Lloyd arms outstretched arriving at a contest with Sewell and then turning his body about 3 frames before he hit him to brace for impact is not a "dog act". Reading this forum this is supposed to have been the most evil act on a football field in centuries although i must admit if Lloyd gets suspended time to outlaw the bump.

Re: Lloyd will get off

having posession has nothing to do it either does the tackle option.
the law says. "a player will be quilty of rough conduct if making a bump, either reasonable or unreasonable, causes forciful contact to be mad to head or neck"

The law talks of making quilts?? Douby any of our players would be guilty of that.

Re: Matthew Lloyd, AFL now must do more...bring in sin bin

I normally read rather than post on this site, but this is just too much.
It was a bad hit, probably earning Lloyd 2 weeks on the sidelines, but this has happened before, it will happen again. He will get his punishment, no need for more rule changes, it wont change what happened.

Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

Clear case of charging - Lloyd came streaming into the square at full tilt at the bounce. He was always going to make contact with someone. For mine it was intentional - and he would be very lucky to get just 4...

Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

watch the reply, wasn't even going for the ball. dirty.

I can guarantee you that is not the case, but if it makes you feel better to think that way...

Re: Matthew Loyd Gone

Was similar to Buddy's. There's no way Lloyd knocked Sewell out on purpose.

Hopefully he gets 2 weeks, the bombers will be as dirty as we were and then the afl might do something.

You can't rub players out for accidents. It's a contact sport ffs.

If that's an exact quote of the rules then they need to employ rule makers with an education.

Great hard footballer? He is a coward and has staged for free kicks his whole career - instead of doing what Sewell does each week and put his body on the line and try and win the hard ball. The comp improves with his retirement.

Re: The difference between the Lloyd and Franklin bumps

so true .

and

Judd collected his team mate Nick Stevens in the head and Stevens had to be helped from the game .
Under the new head rule Judd must be suspended .

Re: Matthew Lloyd, AFL now must do more...bring in sin bin

Based on this, Franklin would have been sin binned for the bump on Cousins last week. Head high and knocked Cousins out of the game.

Agreed ?

Absolutely correct. I am simply now challenging the AFL logic in trying to reduce head injuries. Despite Franklins suspension these incidents will continue to occur. The penalty must be significant and immediate.

Obviously the suspension of Franklin has not had its desired effect in impacting on player behaviour. If the AFL were resolute in protecting players from head injuries they should bring in the sinbin. The tribunal took 6 mins to decide Franklins fate and then the appeals board took 12 mins...sinbin decisions should be easy to assess. Make players and their team pay immediately if you want to reduce head injuries.
