I'd wondered what had happened there for Lloyd to not flatten Bateman. Then saw the reverse angle view of Bateman jumping to give the swinging arm the Lloyd's jaw.

If the Hawks want to "get Lloyd back" (or, alternatively, just harden up a little), they really need to do it in a way that won't see half their side suspended (which at this rate isn't unlikely).

I thought he was going for the ball, and he seems to be a little sorry Sewell got injured. No retaliation whatsoever from Lloyd when Campbell Brown went up to give him a bit. MRP probably will deal out a suspension for it though.

It is interesting, in such an important game they feel the need to get Lloyd back is more important than winning the game and resulting in lots of attempted snipes on him.... it let the Bombers back in and now if the Hawks win they probably lose players because of this stupidity. They were smashing the Bombers winning the hard ball but now are too concerned at sniping than doing what they were.

The game's gone soft

There's been a lot of talk about how AFL will go soft after Buddy's suspension. So I expect the Hawks' fans will be delighted that Lloyd at least is prepared to still play hard footy.

Looked like incidental contact to the head so you'd expect him to get off if the AFL have been listening to public opinion - and the universal call of Hawks' fans.

Do you reckon he should go and make the game softer - or let him off with a warning and keep the standards we all want maintained?

I don't think you can call what he did a bump or a 'shirt front'. He was clearly going for the ball, with plenty of momentum however. Sewell had eyes for the footy too, its just one of those clashes that makes footy great.

Mind you it looked terrible for Brad lying there and not moving. Hope he's ok.

And for all the hawks supporters carrying on calling lloyd a dog etc etc you were the same guys calling the game soft after buddy getting done. This game is far from soft at what makes footy great.

Now shut the **** up.
