After watching the Bombers vs Blues encounter it was just to see Essendon advance to the GF. Rightly so as they have been the standout team all season. One thing that must come out of the game's aftermath though, Matthew Lloyd HAS to be reported on video evidence for a deliberate striking charge against Glen Manton. Sure, Manton lost the free kick for retaliating & rightly so, but if Lloyd is not cited for stopping, turning and giving Manton a decent jab in the ribs the the AFL tribunal system will show itself to be the farce we all know it was quickly becoming. Anyway, even if the AFL does finally come up with the balls to cite him (any other player, any other club would ensure weeks' suspension) it is doubtful they would suspend any of the cocky Bomber prettyboys from their precious GF. How about it AFL, have you got the balls or not??

No wonder your team is so low. Go play netball. Don't hit me please (sorry I thought i WAS A PORT PLAYER FOR A MINUTE)

it's too late the tribunal has lost their balls
i'll use the derby for example and hope no eagles supporter reads this
well kickett got 9 weeks for striking 3 times but gardiner only got 2 weeks when he striked about 5,6,7 times
so i don't think lloyd will be taken from the g/f

Plus, Lloyd didn't hit Manton hard enough to affect him, just hard enough to spark a reaction and we received a free kick and a goal from it. Pretty good result.

your kidding arent you????
jab to the ribs??
he swung his arm and his upperarm made contact with mantons back
your obviously have no idea
the press on both the radio and tv have been laughing at how funny it was to see such great actors, watch out mel gibson
your are a complete fool to think there was anything more in the situation than there was

There is no chance that Lloyd would be suspended. He shouldn't have been reported in the first place, it was a nothing shot. And Manton double chop (whatever you wanna call it) was even more piss-weak. That was the softest free-kick i've ever seen, and the softest report i've ever seen.
Think back to 1996 when Andrew Dunkley got suspended for 2 weeks after the preliminary final. The Tribunal didn't lift the suspension, but made the unusual step of allowing Dunkley to play in the GF and have his suspension start in 1997.
Dockerbabe, that is a ridicoulous comment, Kickett deserved every week he got. 3 strikes my arse, he smacked every player he could in sight. Gardiner did make a few punched, yes, but he didn't make hard contact once.

The tribunal didn't let Dunkley play. Sydney went to the supreme court (twice) whinging that they didn't have time to mount a tribunal defence (they did have time to prepare two supreme court briefs though). The court granted them a stay and the hearing wasn't held until after the GF so he got to play. Not that it did them any good, he played like a dog (just like Hamill last year. Poetic justice perhaps?). Dunkley was suspended though he sooked outside that he was innocent and hadn't done anything wrong.

We did the same thing in '94, and got the tribunal hearings of about four players postponed till after the finals. But they were only on wrestling charges I think, so the outcome wouldn't have affected the team (remember that Subi brawl with the Bulldogs? Southern KO'd Sumich at half time and a meelee started halfway down the Eagles race. Think it was pre-meelee rule though).

I don't know that Lloyd will go. It looked like only a little contact was made to Manton's back....

I won't argue, but do bear in mind how many charges the two players were up on, and how many opponants they each hit....

Looking at the video of the game this morning I would find it very hard to suspend Lloyd for his actions.

dockerbabe - May I ask just why you have to keep refering to the last Western Derby. Sure you want to use it as an example for the Tribunial but every post you do, it seems to be very repetitive (and I know a few are getting a tad sick of it)

Can anyone tell me the difference in Croad's non-headbutt and Lloyds non-strike ?
Either both or neither should have been suspended

Even though there is no way Lloydy should be suspended, I've got this horrible feeling of Deja Vu. Does anyone remember what happened to Coleman & the consequences of that action? History better not repeat itself.
