Do you Watch Footy Classified.

They did an interview on Peter Jackson a while ago.

And he specificly mentioned that Damien Hardwick didn't get the job because Damien said that we weren't going to be Final contenders till the 2010.

Knighta said that our team was ready to make the finals this year.

Cale Hooker (Young! doesn't matter)
Darcey Daniher (same reason^^, is still an option)
Courtney Johns (Sure he's playing FB in Bendigo, but he still has experiance up forward)
Andrew Lee (Has been with us for a while, can play forward)

Cale Hooker - maybe. Form hasnt been great and is a long way off senior footy but he could have presented as a traget. Not sure he would have gien us any more than Pears did. In fact im pretty sure he wouldn't have.

Johns - has been tried as a forward and just doesnt cut it. Has no second efforts. Leads into trafic and cant jump off the ground. It has been pubicly stated in several forms of the media that he is going to be played as a defender.

Daniher - Is probably a chance this week now he has played a few games. He did not have the fitness base during pre season and simply needed to play a few games in a row in the VFL.

Andrew Lee did his shoulder a couple of weeks ago and is out for 10 to 14 weeks after having an operation on it.

Anyway it is all rather pointless becasue the reason we lost had nothing to do with our forward options. We lost becasue our defensive pressure in the midfield was non existant in the first half.

You don't get it.

I mention Courtney Johns because he's at least some sort of a threat to the opposition, taking some attention at least of Lloyd, if Courtney was playing.

Knights did not guarnatee we would play finals this year. He said we are aiming to play finals but it could be a bumpy ride. Hardwicke did not get the job becasue he was going to trade several senior players like Lloyd or Lucas , his overall plan for the club including Bendigo was not in depth as the one Knights put forward and his presentation on how he would be handling the indiginous players on our list was not all that sparkling (from what i have been told).
I do not think you could argue that with our best side on the ground we where in the mix for 7th to 12th on the ladder but we currently have not got our best side on the park and bringing Johns or someone in to give another target is not the problem. Until we can stop sides from running inside and burning us on turnovers it wont matter if we have Buddy and Brown lining up in the forward line next to Lloyd. Given the way our skills have been i doubt we could have hit any of them on a regular basis anyway.

Yeah but I'm pointing out the problem, and trying to make a solution.

Lloyd needs support! So that we can Win a match! So that Matty Knights will live up to his expectation with the club!

And when I try to make a point, you guys just send me to the back of the line.

How is Johns any sort of threat ? Do you honestly think he would have tested Maguire in any way ?
You dont get it becasue you think our problem is the forward line. The third quarter showed we can kick goals when we put a bit of pressure on in the midfield. Too bad we didnt do it in the first half.
It was the same against the Bulldogs.

Courtney Johns (100kg, 194cm) would be a bigger threat than Mcphee's (189cm, 88kg).

Its better having him than a nothing.

No it isn't. Better for Johns learning to be a back as frankly he won't be in our forwardline. We need to be realistic and that was our best side that we could have played against the Saints.

the only problem with that ant555 u cant expect us 2 run like that all day so that where we do need help for lloyd. casue when we bomb it in lloyd gets doubled and triple teamed.

I doubt it very much. McPhee might have a real problem being a slow thinker and holding onto the ball too long but his workrate excededs anything Johns has done but a million miles. Johns is slow in the mind, slow along the ground and does have a workrate anything near what McPhee has. Lets face it Johns doesnt even take as many marks in a game as McPhee. If you are going to have a shot at someone who has played forward then maybe it is NLM you should be directing the focus on. He has been very ordinary the last two weeks.
Maybe you need to think a bit deeper. St.Kilda went away from having too many big slow tragets this week becasue it was not working. I have already said the forward line was not where we lost the game. The game was lost becasue our defensive pressure in the midfield was shocking in the first half and our skills where terrible. When we tightened up in the middle we kicked 6 goals in the third quarter with no real problem. The forward line was not the issue.;)

Laycock is just useless!! and Hille is average even though he tries hard! we need a good ruck combination , the midfield seems ok and getting better, bring in Neagle and Gumbleton as soon as possible.Hope things go better and we kick f___n collingwood's arse on Friday so we can see Eddie in the rooms by himself crying!!!!! go the DONS!:thumbsu:

It was not about running all day. All they did was make sure that they picked up the man running inside and applied simple defensive pressure. Most of the run came when we went forward. In the first half we did not man up. We continually allowed players to jog into space and provide a link. These areas do not require a huge amount of effort to stop.It is not about having to run the whole day .It is about playing smarter footy. Pretty simple concept. Find the closest man to you and pick him up. Stop him from becoming an easy option. If the footy is flying back the other way no one on the forward line is going to stop it are they ? Having Johns up there would have ment another 10 or so dropped marks and rebounds from kicks that where delived inside 50 very poorly.

You havn't watched Hille closely this year have you. He has been sensational with the run and efforts he has put into providing an option around the ground.

:thumbsu: I finnaly got some support.

you just can't get anything through their thick heads.

No the problem is you complete lack of understanding of how footy can be played. It has nothing to do with our thick heads and everything to do with your complete ignorance. Have you any comments at all to make on our midfield problems ? Or turnovers , or lack of defensive pressure. Do you even understand it or know how to look for it during a game ?
If you think Johns is the answer well you have absolutely no idea at all.
End of story.

Who gives a S__t, we only need Johns as a prop. We don't really expect to kick him the ball.

It better having him there to give the defence some pressure than having no one at all appart from Lloyd.

i still rekons that the problem tho because they are running that hard forward when theres a turnover we are screwed. prob the biggest thing is our skills. but yes acountabilty is a big problem 2.

Our midfield seems picture perfect (Appart from their Defensive roles). They delivered the ball well but the Saints easy gang up defence on Lloyd just saw them sending it straight back.

You really have no idea .
I will say it slowly . O T H E R S I D E S D O N O T F E A R J O H N S . Bringing him into the side will not stop them from pushing someone back and double teaming Lloyd. You have to have someone dangerous to stop them from sending two players to Lloyd. The players we have that could fit that mould have been injured. they are not ready or have not been ready to play yet. They tried to use Pears at CHF but being young and inexperienced it did not work. The same thing would have happened if they tried Hooker there.
It is not such a hard concept to grasp.

i dont agree with u there ha ha. our kicking to lloyd is shocking. how many times did u see it get kicked lace out to him. NEVER. they were kicking it high in the air. which allowed maxy to spoil him. i went to the carlton essendon game. how many times did u see fev get hit lace out on the chest. mal did well on him in the 1 on 1's. but when on the lead ther kicks were awesome and he kicked 8. and i thought mal did a good job on him that nite. DELIVELY HELPS ALOT

Now i know you have no idea. If you think we delivered the ball well inside 50 then we are wasting time discussing this. You should take another look at the game becasue the kicking skills insdie 50 where very ordinary.;)
