Not really. You say that calling him an average captain is "far from bagging him out". I tend to disagree. Considering how proud anyone would be to captain our great club I could think of nothing more offensive than being labelled "an average captain". You're entitled to your opinion but don't go back pedalling and saying you were far from bagging him. You were bagging him plain and simple.

thats a bit harsh "awful list" id say developing list, and as for lloyd, he is struggling, but the ball isnt exactly coming in well to him.

I have a lot of respect for Richo and all that he's done for your football club and whilst Richo may be in better form at the minute he has never been as good as Matthew Lloyd.

He'll get his 250th later this year unless he gets injured

Lloyd can't perform? He's out of form yes, but he played very well on Friday night. He'll bounce back as i'm sure everyone agrees.

You have no idea. Did you ever think that Lloyd isn't peforming because he is getting older and that after his injury, he has struggled. You get the tapes out and watch Lloyd in his prime and you'd say that Richo wasn't even close to Lloyd. Richo has been an excellent player for Richmond and is peforming better than Lloyd now but Matthew Lloyd no doubt has had the better career.

Lloyd has still kicked more goals in less games than Richo, hence he is a better player.

Richo is a star, but he isn't a Matthew Lloyd, one of the all-time great full forwards.

No regrets bossco as i am happy to see Lloyd playing well and my only wish is to see Essendon winning, and he has played a big part in that the last weeks so that's all good.

You of course take more delight in trying to prove someone wrong that you don't like.

Its a forum and people have opinions. They can be wrong or they can be correct.
Given the form that Lloyd has shown in the last couple of weeks i have been proven wrong as well.
You are the peanut anyway, you are proven to be correct two weeks in a row and you come on and show no class at all.
The fact reamians Lloyd was struggling and it was affecting his game and his captancy. The last two weeks he has lead from the front and it is no surprise that his teamates have fired up a little as well.
Why should Merv have any regrets ? Merv has never said he is correct all the time. All he did was express his opinion which was backed up by a number of games in which Lloyd has struggled.

we can all have different opinions.. mine differed strongly from yours and merv to a big extent on this subject. i thought lloyd was getting to the right areas but just didn't have the support etc.. but the last two weeks it has been satisfying to see him play some great footy. But i think discussions on things like form have no right or wrong.. if lloyd has a bad week next week.. i guess everyone goes back to the other side of the fence.. such is the nature of footy. i don't think we as supporters should attack each other.. or our players.

Like Merv, I did not think Lloyd had been captaining well, and over the course of the season his performance has been below par. His last two weeks have been great, not because of his improved form, but his abaility to set the tone and do the hard yards. That is how a captain leads, by doing the right things.

Lloyd like Monfires are bearing the fruits of hard-work. For all the ocmplicated stats and set plays and the like - good old fashioned busting a gut still has the greatest reward.
