He's said himself that what was said got to him. And he had to really lift, and he's definitely done that. Like I said at the start of the thread, he was lazy and wouldn't go too hard at the ball and go for the 2nd efforts, but since then he's been going at 100miles and hour at the ball and his 2nd efforts have been awesome.

I think the crowd reaction yesterday show that all Bomber fans love the man despite the critisism he got early this year.
I have to agree with what you say. The way he played he deserved to be questioned. Llyod mentioned again last night that the coach actually told him some home truth's (along with a couple of other senior players) as well.
Like the champ he is he has responded.

Re: Nice whack during the week

C'mon ant, don't be so harsh. He has been excellent in the past month or so. It looked like he was playing more of a defensive role today and although he was shown out in the defensive half at times against Bruce, he wasn't the only player who was a bit disappointing.

How is it harsh. He did not play that well yesterday and the reason i mentioned it was it was a few lazy efforts that let his opponent loose in the forward line to recive easy marks. Was not one of his better games thats all.
Why is it that everyone has to wear rose coloured glasses ?
Its not like i said he was shit and should be traded

How`s his season been ?

His season has been pretty good but when he plays poorly and part of the reason he plays poorly is becasue he slips back into old habits then he deserves to be pulled up on those things.

Re: Nice whack during the week

No-one has supported those three boys more than me cagoose. No-one.

So what you are saying is becasue i was critical of Stanton early in the year and yesterday i am not as loyal as you ?

Not sure if you, or anyone else noticed this ant but there were a few times yesterday starting from the 2nd quarter where i thought stants was limping a bit?

How good was the cheering after each replay, as if we'd just seen it for the first time?:D

My mail is mostly on the money the mail is lloyd has fallen out with knights over a few things no excuses for lloyd but our skills and game plan are just plain awful so that dosent help. Our club is at its lowest in over 30 years very ordinary football admin, crap coaching staff ,crap president, and awful list. Some players seem not interested and there skills are totally fu__ed

+8...

Re: Nice whack during the week

IMO Lloyd needed the criticism, has made him lift his game..good to see the 'vintage' Lloyd back! :D (He even noted that on 'Before the game')

Knights...couldnt be happier with him as coach.
Some people expect miracles to happen, but they don't.
He has done well getting the boys to adapt to the new style of play and not only that, he had so many fresh legs to work with. :D:thumbsu:

Stanton, has his moments, shows more good than bad..I like him :thumbsu:

Laycock,
have always stuck up for him and been patient with him,
but lately unfortunately my patience have been fading..
we do need him though...back up ruckman. ;)

I think Lloyd is an average captain

LUCKILY for Matthew Lloyd, he was at work at the MCG Saturday, for he may have knocked himself out at Telstra Dome - on the roof.
Lloyd soared to what he later described as the highest mark of his illustrious career en route to his sixth goal, underlining a remarkable return to favour.
Some of us - yes, “us” - feared for his future just eight weeks ago. Those with honour will own up, even if it’s so much easier to back away from bold statements made in the electronic mediums.

You know you've made it Merv when Mike is obviously having a snipe at YOU! Congratulations

You are just putting your own spin on it and selective quoting, once again.

I think Lloyd is an average captain, in the wrong position for a captain, at the wrong stage of his career.

Average captain : By his own admission and Kighters he wasn't working hard enough, applying enough pressure and was continually losing his feet.
They are not traits of a great leader, but calling someone average isn't a slur like you would like to spin it but merely a term i used to suggest he wasn't a great leader.

Wrong position for a captain: He was plonked in the square at the time of that quote and was having little impact.

Wrong stage of his career: Pretty self explanatory, even for you, i would of thought.

Of course you would pick up Mike having a "snipe" at me, as you do nothing else but snipe, hence why your opinion is irrelevant to me.

I won't be replying to you again on this topic as i have explained myself a couple of times already and it's time for you to move on from your sniping.

Funny how i am your only target in this thread but of course we both know why....

Obviously the only opinions you find relevant are the ones that agree with you.
Lets let Mike have the last words then, "Those with honour will own up"

I can't believe this discussion is still taking place.
I mean i last logged into this forum over a month ago and i remember seeing this same thread before i left...

Is Merv still at the centre of all this like he was at the start? Personally I don't think he needs to defend his opinions about anything to anybody.

I'm not here crowing that I was right. If there is one thing that really annoys me it's people bagging Matthew Lloyd, or anyone for that matter, then trying to pretend that they never did, when it is there for all to see. If they want to change there opinion that is fine but at least admit it when you do. It takes guts to admit you're wrong

*bump*

4 goals and another stellar performance from the captain tonight despite the loss.

Interesting that tockley hasn't been around since mid-June when Lloydy started his 'comeback' (although I don't think he was ever really gone).
