Coming of a very serious injury last year.

having said that he was always going to struggle as he has oiver the last few years because of your midfield delivery - a la Richo.

So true. Rioli used to hand feed him with some of the best foot work of all time, they were telepathic those two.

McVeigh has been great all year.

First bad game yesterday.

He's a sniff then.....personally the velvet sledgehammer has a strong important history with you guy's and coming off a nasty injury hasn't helped....it seems a bit like us with Vanders, everyone has bagged him though he has not been fully fit for 2 yrs.... or is that why a change may have to get made??

Look at the bright side you are no where near as bad as Richmond, Carlton and Melbourne...now they are crap :)

I`m saying that this bloke has more runs on the board than most of the current list and a few on this site are carrying on like spoilt brats. How many has he kicked for the year ? (not forgetting the two games he`s missed)
That's my point. Last week he sat in the square and ripped Adelaide to shreds. Then yesterday he comes out and keeps running up to the wing and the half back line. Yes we weren't getting the ball down there a lot, but whenever we did 80% of the time Lloyd wasn't there, where he's supposed to be. And yesterday wasn't the first time that's happened.

Lloyd is one of my fav players as my username suggests but he has seem to have lost it.
Most of his goals haven't been his own, most of them were cheap goals.
Has he dominated a match....no
Just giving my opinion.

Problem with Lloyd as captain is he thinks (or so it seems) that he has to get up the ground and show everyone what to do.

He doesn't belong in the back line and he should be relieved of the captaincy and be told to sit in the goal square and get our forward line structure right.

Also needs to get his goalkicking back to what it was before the hamstring injury if possible.

has lloyd lost his mojo?
Struggles to kick straight since he tore his hammy.
Can't take a contested mark
he was bloody frustrating today, gave away silly frees.
is he the right man to lead essendon?
Hope he can get him self right for next year
I know about my username but meh..
Lloyd has slowed up recently but regardless after watching him give away stupid free kicks and selfish shots at goal yesterday i don't think he is the right man to lead the club. I'm not always a Mike Sheehan fan but he got it right in todays Herald-Sun about Lloyd. However, the problem is who do we replace him with? Hille (average last year), Lucas (to introverted), Fletcher (to old). Where is the next generation of leaders for our club?

strong rumour i heard was that lloyd was one of the reasons sheedy is gone at seasons end anyone else hear this, he didnt sound to convincing on the footy show last thursday.

Needs to lose 3-5kg, is too slow on the lead (admittedly the hamstring injury doesn't help) but surely he's carrying too much weight. You couldn't get within 3m of him at his peak and now he is getting caught by every AFL defender

I feel one problem is that he doesn't get as good a feed from the midfield as he used to in 2000, 2001. But yes, he has been dissapointing this year.

Pretty much sums it up for me and this reason alone leads me to think he needs to play up the ground a little more to accommodate our below average disposal. Back in the day, he had Misiti, Mercuri, a red hot Rama, Rioli and the Johnsons spearing them in. At the minute, he only pretty much has Watson who consistently measures his passes.

On TFS last Thurs, Lloyd made a point of the fact that he's only ever known one coach...a part of me thinks f*** off them to another team if you're so desperate for someone different...but anyway...

My theory is he's got the guilts. He backed Sheed's departure and now with all the media circus he's feeling lousy.

I understand he also seemed put out that Sheedy was interviewing for new positions. Well I reckon if the EFC can start interviewing for next year, then Sheeds has to be able to do the same.

But obviously the players are affected by all this, as they would be.

McVeigh, Welsh, Watson just to name a few.

He didn't say he wanted someone different or that he was "desperate" for a change, he just stated the fact that he has only ever had one coach.

So you really believe there's nothing to read between the lines in stating that?

Look how Lloyd feels about the whole thing can be assessed as much by what he doesn't say as by what he does...and he's not looking too comfortable on or off field atm. JMO.

I totally agree. Not that we got the ball down forward too often but when we did I can think of at least 4 occasions when Lloyd - and no one else either for that matter - was there to receive the ball, landing it in an open goal square for the waiting solo Hawks player.

I'm the biggest Lloyd fan going around but I also think he feels too much pressure as captain to pass the ball and play up field. Think he needs to get back to playing in the square.

I'm also a bit off Lloyd these days and its mainly due to his attitude. I know he kicked 5 against Adel but there was a point there where he turned towards the ump after a contest while the ball was still in contention. I'm just sick of him going to ground while the ball simply waltzes out of our forward line while he's looking for an ump. Having said that, I think he's being exposed on this front due to the absence of forward-line defensive pressure aka Davey.
