I think he is a bloody good full forward, but it does get a bit frustrating (especially when at the game after downing 8 beers......you let the umpires know)

i'll be honest and admit i think the umpiring favoured essendon particularly in the 1st quarter. worrying trend i think the umpires bet on matches. against kangaroos and geelong the umpires killed essendon - it was a welcome changeup this week though!

i watch vfl and the umpiring is generally better - with no betting or home crowd influence/pressure it seems to make a difference. leigh matthews is right - should stop betting on games as whilst the temptation is there bad apples will always go to corruption. only have to look at world soccer to see it occurs.

So we are now going to judge entire careers on the basis of one whole game? Wow, they'd be a few superstars in the competition then...

Wow, that's great - but why don't you dig up the "Goals from Frees" statistic? Would be much more relevant to your discussion.
would be relevant to my discussion, obviously i bought this up because of the disgraceful umpiring last night, and if you, like all other essendon supporters are too thick headed and too bloody stupid to relise your team was obviously given the upper hand from the umpires last night then thats just sad.

OH and another free kick which i noticed which wasnt payed. Ball goes into essendons foward line Monfries flies into the back of Jammo and Thornton didnt even get a touch to the ball called play on and goal.

Fevola "NUDGES" Mal "The Dirty Dog" Micheal with his forearm and was called hands in the back, my aswell as everyone elses intepretation of that rule is if the player has hands in the back its a freekick well there were no hands but a forearm. Shocking umpiring. I would'nt mind some answers.

not for carlton though - hasn't even managed to sing the club song yet :p

and what of vandenburg and kane johnson in your initial comments?

as mr t would say "i pity the fool"
and to think essendon tried to secure Judd's services by sending a Diver for a captain to talk to him, because they didnt have a coach. ha ha oh the humour

The goals from frees statistic is only concerned with when a player who wins the free kick scores the goal. What it doesn't include is a free kick which may set up an assist, just as bad though.

There's no question in games these days the umpires give away too many silly/soft free kicks for many differing reasons (mainly due to the neverending rule changes and discrepancies in them), but do you really think this just restricted to Essendon (and apparently always against Carlton) and not the other teams in the AFL? It happens in every game, every week, every year. To actually think though the umpires had some sort of vendetta against Carlton and were delibrately trying to favour Essendon in their decisions is just ludicrus and stinks of sore loser syndrome.

the umpire deemed monfries went more into the back of lloyd than the opposition. personally it looked a free kick to me.

a forearm in the back still warrants the age old rule of pushing in the back. i thought it was a free against fev.

and i agree essendon were favoured by the umpires - very unusual for us though!

Pretty pathetic how Lloyd can just dive all night and be rewarded for it whilst Fevola cannot get a proper decision whatever he does. The one where he used his body to mark against Michael and got penalised for hands in the back was terrible.

the umpire didn't pay hands in the back - he paid it for the old rule pushing in the back. doesn't matter if you use you head, arm, hand, foot, bum whatever - if you push into the back of an opponent its a free.

the ridiculous ones are when a player rests a finger on his opponents back without any force and they pay hands in the back. terrible rule which isn't necessary - if there's any force with the hands then its covered by the old pushing in the back rule.

this is all adrian andersons fault.

Just been watching a replay of the game on Fox. Lloyd would have the be the worst foward in the A.F.L, honestly whenever the ball gets near him he bloody slips over. He kicked 4 goals for the game, but 90% of those goals he kicked were free-kicks from the umpire.

Absolute crap he is and if i was an Essendon supporter i'd be ashamed to have this sort of player on the team, he nothing but a scum, a diver!

Hands in the back rule= the Matthew Lloyd diving rule

He kicked 2 goals from marks on a lead.
He kicked 1 gaol from a strong contested mark where he was outnumbered 3 to 1.
He kicked 1 goal from a hanball over the top in the goalsquare.

He kicked zero goals from free kicks.

The BF Lloyd free kick myth is still rife. :thumbsu:

Lloyd stood up when his team needed him in the last quarter. How many Carlton forwards stood up in the last quarter when they needed to?

Only problem is that it wasn't his back but his side. Every commentator/expert will disagree with you.

Lloyd is the most disgraceful and dishonest player I've seen. Every single marking contest he's in, it ends with his face in the dirt. EVERY SINGLE TIME! If Fevola did that shit he would get dragged for it. Luckily Fev wasn't doing that and he was backing up after each contest. Even when he nudged out that dirty c*** (that f***ed over the club that gave him 3 premierships), Michael, Fev had the discipline to chase the ball and cause the next turnover resulting in a goal. No wonder Lucas is their number 1 forward now.

Pathetic Lloyd. I'm ashamed that he's an ambassador of this great sport.

Fevola doesnt need free kicks to kick goals

Career free kick statistics

Fevola - 0.9 (average free kicks for per game), 1.0 (against per game)
Lloyd - 0.9 (for) , 1.0 (against)

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story you bitter, bad sport. :thumbsu:

Btw career goals

Fevola 399
Lloyd 839

Matters little about who gets the free kicks.

Lloyd plays for free kicks all day.
