Watch the last 5 minutes of the match - then tell me which club has the high moral ground.
Obviously still plenty of Barry Hall types at Labrador... makes a joke of their coaches comments earlier this week.!

http://www.aflq.com.au/qafl-live/

I watched the last 5mins certainly was very uneasy to watch.
Nasty vibe at the end.

But what Shattock was talking about I’m not sure if you have forgotten or not was off field crowd behaviour not the on field stuff.
Reserve Grade players and hangers on yelling abuse from the outer during First Grade.
He did say too and I did mention it that he said his own club wasn’t immune to anti social behaviour too.

But yeah Labrador certainly turned it up there at the end and finished the game pretty classlessly.

As a city, we're pretty dominant at every level except the AFL. Also, this article below was in the GC Bulletin a few days ago and it details a Gold Coast private school taking Aussie rules more seriously by hiring Matthew Lappin to coach their school teams.

HE’S transformed Hillcrest into an AFLQ Schools Cup contender and Matthew Lappin hopes to help increase the number of former AFL players coaching Gold Coast juniors.

Lappin heads the AFL program at Hillcrest Christian College that will feature in the primary female division state finals, to be held at Maroochydore on October 18.

It’s one of four teams left in the division while the school also showed development in the senior and primary boys divisions in Lappin’s first year in the role.

“We have only got two girls in our team who play club footy so I’ve had to grab girls out of our basketball program and soccer players,” Lappin, who played 251 AFL games at Carlton and St Kilda, said.

“They have committed really hard to training and went undefeated this year. There is a bit of a buzz around the school.

“Our boys in the junior school and senior school I have had heaps of growth and development this year which is been awesome.”

Lappin has four of his own children in the school including Tilley, 13, Sunny, 11, who is in the primary female team, daughter Stevie, 9, and his son Harley, 4.

Employing former AFL players to coach students is common in Victoria and Lappin said it was a ploy Queensland schools should adopt more in order to continue improving the development opportunities of young players.

“It’s been really innovative by the school to get this going,” Lappin said.

“It happens a bit in Victoria with ex-AFL players and coaches implementing their football programs.”

Hillcrest has a booming basketball excellence program and Lappin said it provided the perfect crossover sport to Australian rules.

...

Fair to say schools which take basketball seriously could be a good resource for us to find talent that could make the switch to footy ala Kurt Tippett.

Disappointing start to the day for Gold Coast footy. Highly rated Cairns junior Austin Harris, Will Bella (brother of our AFLW ruck Lauren) and Ethan Dawson (brother of Jacob) all played in that U18s Grand Final for Palm Beach.

Next up is the QAFL Reserves GF - PBC v Surfers Paradise. The Lions have the early lead in the first quarter. Ashton Crossley (brother of Brayden), Corey Joyce (brother of Jesse) and highly rated junior Sam Hilton-Joyce are all playing in this one.

A little confused
I thought it was Tweed Coolangatta Blues?
Are they separating, or is this the Tweed Coast(Pottsville) Tigers?

PALM Beach Currumbin Australian Football Club president Anne Cornish has conceded the Lions may have to consider ceasing player and coach payments and revaluating their place in the QAFL should the season start later than July this year.

Cornish has been in regular contact with AFL Queensland throughout the league shutdown period and remains hopeful that the 2020 season is on track for a July start, with each team to play each other once and the whole season to conclude by October.

But any later and the Lions may consider opting out due to the potential for conflicting schedules.

“If it went later than that and was a spring start in August or September, to be quite honest we don’t know if we’d take part,” she said.

“We share a ground with the cricket club who own the ground from October 1 onwards which would be an issue and also, the boys are pretty used to having that October through to February as their own off-season time to plan holidays and spend with family.”

Palm Beach Currumbin may also be forced to do away with coach and player payments but no final decision would be made until a season restart date was set in stone.

“Until I get a date, there’s no point having those discussions,” Cornish said.

THE Labrador Football Club have thrown their doors open to host all Gold Coast-based QAFL games for the remainder of 2020 as the only Coast club to not share their home ground with cricket.

Gold Coast QAFL rivals Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise and Palm Beach Currumbin all share usage of their respective home grounds with Gold Coast cricket clubs while Labrador’s Cooke-Murphy Oval remains unused in the off-season.

Tigers president Nick McGuire said Labrador would happily host their Gold Coast rivals later this year should they enter a turf war with adjoining cricket clubs.

“If we have to run our competition into cricket season, we’d happily host home games here,” McGuire said.

“Southport Labrador cricket club use our second oval as a backup ground during their season but our main oval is empty.

“I’m sure the other clubs wouldn’t want to come to us and it’s all a bit tongue in cheek but we’d definitely welcome them as we’re probably just about the only club on the Gold Coast that doesn’t contend with cricket.”

Grounds Crew would have to work overtime to keep the field in decent condition with all those extra games being played on the one field right?

QAFL is getting up and running on July 11.

The revised 2020 fixture for AFL Queensland’s premier men’s competition, the QAFL, has been released. The shortened nine round home and away season starts on July 11, with all clubs playing four home games and four away games. The top six teams will then battle out a sudden death finals series that culminates with the Grand Final on 26 September.

All nine teams that entered the competition prior to the suspension of all matches will remain, including Maroochydore, who will make their much awaited QAFL debut on home turf, when they host Wilston Grange in Round 1 at the Maroochydore Multisport Complex.

Reigning Premiers Surfers Paradise, won’t have to wait long to unveil their 2019 premiership flag, as they are scheduled to host last season’s vanquished Grand Finalists, Palm Beach Currumbin, in Round 1. Whilst a premiership can never be avenged, Palm Beach will no doubt be keen to spoil the Demon’s flag raising party.
