You need to look up the dictionary meaning of locks.
Don't carry a dictionary Seeds. Should I?

Let me see - I'm hearing that I need a thicker skin (Life span-void) and a dictionary (Seeds), and that I should accept that when a respected vet poster who asks his other fellow posters as an aside "Am I the only one confused?" (Jub Jub), its not a jibe directed at a newbe poster. Why not just ask me to explain?

Anyway, I still regard myself as part of the Geelong tribe but will step back & follow the board instead as a reader. Maybe I just don't understand the whole male thing. Perhaps my loss.

Keep posting. The more posters the better. But male thing?

Kim , hang in there . The Poodle Hunt lines threw me a little too. But it happens.

Ive lost count of the number of posts where Ive posted something I thought was clear & precise , only to be brought down to earth with a thud because of poor typing or grammar or a lack of thought.

The one I specifically remember is when Cam Mooney was struggling , in 06 I think , and I was watching a Brisbane game in which Jonathan Brown had be moved up around the ball. It loosened him up from the constant negative attention and I was thinking of when Cam played so well on the ball in previous years.

So I posted a thread " Can Mooney do a Brown".

Obviously I was thinking Brown the player , not Brown the colour or Brown the effluent. Boy that sort killed me talking that idea for a while. Or the times I posted my strong believes on player like Matt Spencer and a relative came back it because they took it personally.

I can only suggest you remember that if you feel you been unfairly treated the mods will try to help. Of course this is a board for debate , and to a degree , robust comments are a part of that.

Don't react kim, just keep posting. After a while you start to enjoy the insults :) Seriously though, things can often be lost in the written word..... and some of us aren't all that sharp!! Mind you...it could be worse...check out the Hawk board..makes us ( particularly me!! ) look super intelligent.:thumbsu:

Now my bit....if Murdoch isnt a lock after this pre-season then nobody is. I will be absolutely amazed if he doesn't get selected. I am seriously beginning to think this guy could be elite....not this year...but very soon....great hands, beautiful kick, super quick and starting to read the play beautifully. An absolute lock in the 22 IMO.

Right on the money there DTC,also good when not in possession.

T Hunt Bundy would not even be talked about at MC in regards to playing rd1.

Would be surprised if Rivers doesn't join them.

My certainties for rd 1:

Lonergan Taylor Enright Rivers THunt Corey Varcoe Mackie Selwood Caddy Bundy Pods Chapman Bartel Duncan Hawkins

Who I think will join them:

Blicavs Walker Murdoch Stokes GHS Smedts

Em: Brown Guthrie Motlop

Not easy..

That's a fricking lie and if you say it again I'll sue you.I'm not a respected poster :D

I agree with the feedback from the other folks. It took me a little while to settle in to the "vibe" and take the questions and occasional digs for what they are - good fun banter for the most part.

I am aware that whilst in my own head I am clear, articulate and witty, I have come to understand that some others on BF - especially from the PnP board - just don't see it that way.

Don't toss it in now. We need a diversity of opinion and perspective - that's where the fun is. I had great fun with someone from some other board on the Bay the other night after a few frothies about something I can't recall that in a more sober moment I might have arked up about. All part of the gig.

FWIW I was confused by your post but when I read it again saw what you meant.

For Rd 1...
BACKS: Taylor, Lonergan, Mackie, Enright, Rivers, Varcoe
MIDS: Selwood, Bartel, Corey, Duncan, Bundy, T Hunt (Caddy & GHS maybe)
FORWARDS: Hawkins, Pods, Chapman (assuming uninjured), Smedts, Murdoch, Motlop
RUCKS: Blitz, Walker (assuming no HMac, West or Vardy)

You're hardly a newbie poster if you've been reg'd for 3 years. My first post to you was to assure you that there was no insult, and again when you pointed to what you thought was an insult I saw no such thing. Now I'm actually going to insult you by telling you that you're being a drama queen. Explain your thread, stay on topic and these histrionics won't happen.

This place is full of drama queens....what a pissy insult.

Cant you do better than that?
This board is developing the stench of boredom, posters in tears, threating to leave, taking cheap shots at others and that's just me,bring on the footy:D

The other 2013 Geelong best 22 (well, 20 anyway)….

Backs
· Life Span-Void. Good team man, reads both side of the play well. Refuses to be distracted. No nonsense and plays good old fashioned footy
· youpickone. Team joker with a touch of the Billy Brownless quality one-liners. More useful further up field. Get on with it and pass the liniment type player.
· FredLaDeux. Shadows Billy closely
· Supahoops. A solid contributor

Mids
· MC Extra Dollop. Refuses to be distracted. Keeps his eye on the main prize.
· Seeds. Plays by the ‘book’ but quick to pull sooky team-mates into line
· allrighty. A 50-gamer looking at a long career. Quick to pass on quality advice to any intimidated rookie.
· Claude Balls. Another who reads the play well.
· Alkanphel. Can be relied on to finish well.

Forwards
· Turbocat. Captain in waiting. Plays the modern game & inspiration to emerging talented rookie posters. Analyses well.
· DavidtheCat. Another level headed seasoned veteran. Its all about footy, leave everything else in the car park
· JUBJUB. Uncompromising 300 gamer full forward. No nonsense and plays it as he sees it. Action man. Leads from the front & thinks it through later on.
· The rabbi. Flashes in and out but good value
· Whopper32. Good student of the game. Solid.

Bench
· The Slim Dog. Barmy44. CF. Geelong_Sicko. Fpm84. Cat for Life

Emergency & orange boy
· kimodgers. A lot to learn but definitely a future talent

If I bring back the ball that I took home yesterday can I keep playing?

I was thinking before pre-season started if some of Horlin-Smith, Smedts, Caddy and Murdoch could have strong pre-seasons we'd already look much better than last year. Goes without saying it's been even better than that - they'll all done enough now to guarantee Round 1 selection. (State again that Mitch Brown will be the unluckiest player in the league if he isn't playing, but equally try to find a position on the ground!)

Yes but don't go back into your shell if you have some think you want to put forward go for it,the board is full of people pushing their own view as well as those who sit off the pack waiting to pounce on anything you say that may be flawed, remember you are entitled to your opinion like every one else, don't be intimidated, now here's the Liniment rub some on and get out there and get on with it.

Now THAT'S a response. You don't need our permission to post, you're one of us already. We only give the GTFO treatment to hawthorn dipshits :thumbsu:

Taylor Hunt isn't quite a lock for me yet, however will probably be at seasons end. Have excluded Menzel purely on the basis long-term injury, and once he returns he should be a regular within the best 22.

Wanted to throw West, Josh Hunt, and Vardy in there as well but decided to err on the cautious side. Hunt's position is very much subject to injury and how his body holds up over the rest of his career, in addition to the need to develop budding defenders (namely Guthrie) through regular game time.

Honestly, the way I see it is that the less 'locks' we have at this stage the better. It highlights the depth in our side and the quality in some of our youngsters, and we can expect to see plenty of rotation throughout 2013. Guthrie, GHS, Murdoch, Caddy, Taylor Hunt, Vardy, plus anyone else I've missed are all going to be groomed over the course of this season to becoming locks in another 2 or so years.

Very good post, but beg to disagree slightly about one aspect.

Taylor Hunt is a lock now. Easily. He's got probably (along with Guthrie) the least glamourous and most demanding job of any of our younger players, and is actually doing ok at it. Get used to seeing him because he's going to be a regular for 10 years.

You forgot to mention the grammar/spelling Nazis, they are the worst lot.

No-one likes them.

BTW - it is "threatening" not "threating" :D
