I feel like every company is trying to make their logo the same style and not trying something different which is a bit boring.

If its meant to look "sports-sciency" it failed. To me, it just looks derpy

That is just one form of it, the clever thing about the logo is that it can now have specific looks depending on the publication it appears on;

I don't like any of those ones either. Perhaps they would look better on the actual cover of the comic though.

The 2012 iteration's supposed to be the American flag.





Rarely do we see shopping centre management change their logo.
We've got one being phased into various locations like analogue's being phased out.
