New slogan to boot.
Does anyone understand the symbol? The old one makes sense, is a V and A in Braille, but this other one hurts my eyes trying to follow it, which I think could be counter-intuitive.

It's a 'V' and an 'A' using ovals, similar to the Toyota logo.

Obviously isn't a massive change, but it is NASCAR's first change in almost 40 years. I do like that they didn't go with a modern route, and kept it nostalgic.

I'm not sure if we've seen this before on here, but this is a DVD case found at my local JB Hi Fi store. Turns out the new Dog has back legs
They've done well I reckon. Cleans it up and the logo is still as recognisable.

The new Suncorp logo looks like one of those back of the scenes companies you get. In the sort of field Suncorp is, you get a lot of those companies who might be insurance, or a manufacturer, or who own warehouse or plants... for those companies, something bland and stoic and that can be easily sewn or signed is right.
But Suncorp may own smaller subsidiaries, but they are a corporation and not a company. They're the face. They sponsor things and they're the name people use. These smaller branches and companies are faceless and irrelevant even if they are important to the industry. I don't get why you wouldn't go flashy, modern, and not stock when you're so visible. Weird choice.
The other thing is, it looks very unfriendly. Look at Landmark or some other similar corporation: they give off a friendly vibe even if they're just multinational arseholes. This sort of heavy handed, serious font and the default logo screams 'steel manufacturer for stadiums and schools' or 'train assembly company.'

I'm 90% sure that the the bland 'new' Suncorp logo is used only in the corporate 'investory' side of things. It's not a new logo for the insurance company or the bank, those remain the same.One for the simplified file.

If you don't have Ps or Ai I can understand that, but if you do you should learn how to do it. For starters, you'll be able to make better logos for competitions.
