Probably easier and cheaper to reproduce now that it's a simple one colour variant, and the layperson won't even recognise a difference. Smart move.

From what I read, the Easts Tigers are actually part of the Firehawks bid so not totally surprising.

Interesting decision to have the bird looking leftwards [to our eye] with the modern trend in sports logos to have the emblem looking 'forward'

. The Newcastle Knights, for example, a couple of years ago flipped their historic logo to much controversy for this reason.​
