Yeah I don't get this change up, feel like I'm looking for something in the negative space but can't find it!I know why they did it – scales better for digital. It's still an ugly logo though. Too clever by half.

An interesting observation
the two "I"s in Lightning should be hockey sticksNew Brisbane Ice Hockey team - Featuring the story bridge and a stylised skyline.
Not terrible, but doesn't scream "hockey"

I think people are probably madder that Mr Pringle is show to be vain and dyes his mustache, instead of the carefree gentleman we all know and love."Debranding" is such a misnomer for what is going on here.
I'd argue that the trend of 'skeuomorphing' a brand with things like faux shadows and chrome effects was the real anti-brand process, and it's just being reversed back to the norm.
Sharpening the focus of a brand to allow for the expansion of the visual identity beyond just the logo is what branding is all about.
Yeah they have really just used the existing font without really changing anythingthe two "I"s in Lightning should be hockey sticks
and a puck as a full stop added
Yeah, I'd probably agree that the expression smacks of someone trying to invent a name to describe it so they can be the one that came up with it."Debranding" is such a misnomer for what is going on here.

What a buzzkill that logo is. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Gang Gang represented, but the logo is so disjointed. The wings don't look at all like they should be paired up with the rest of the bird. It's such an awkward mix of curvy and soft with the sharp wing illustration. This was such a good build-up only to be dramatically let down. I saw the profile pic thumbnail, I thought 'great start', and then they go and ruin it by putting it in that stupid CA stylised shield. Almost 20 years of that eyesore... let it go!
AFAIK all the current AFL logos on Wikipedia are svg format. Is there an easy way to download the team logo svg files from the AFL website or am I just missing something?
Define "easy": here's the master SVG "file" with a bunch of "symbols" for each club and SVG on the website by the look of it. Each <symbol> tag has an "id" which tells you what it actually contains. There are ways to convert <symbol>s to SVG files or, if you want them for a webpage, you can "use" a <use> tag and refer to the symbol. Otherwise, you either need Inkscape or a similar editor to extract the symbols from the file or to program something similar. Is there an easy way to download the team logo svg files from the AFL website or am I just missing something?

This is every symbol in that SVG file as an SVG (note that some of the SVG's just contain PNGs encoded in base 64 format)Is there an easy way to download the team logo svg files from the AFL website or am I just missing something?
