I find it amusing that Aussies are buying Mustangs and they’re advertised as Fords.
After all, they are not made by an Australian manufacturer. You know, the company registered and trading as “Ford Australia”.
They no longer manufacture here, so not much difference in the trading of either company.
No one manufactures here any more so you could mount the Camaro argument for any brand.
Umm why? The Mustang has an international mystique, legendary car.
Ford fans, finally get the car they have lusted after.
Holden and Chev fans get the Camaro, Chrysler fans get the 300 SRT.

Thank heavens not all males have sold out to hot hatches and hybrids.

He's on the same page as you, just pointing out that Ford Australia are no longer manufacturers but are just distributors similar to HSV now, not actually having a crack at Mustangs.

Also, hot hatches are fun, nothing wrong with them.

I find it hard to identify any rebirthing of a legend to be anything but a caricature.
Would be nice if the manufacturers actually tried to create a modern day legend instead.
They never stopped making Mustangs, and apart from 1 generation in the 70's they have always been performance cars.
Camaro's always have been.

So is the Porsche 911 a caricature then?

The car is being sold as the Chevrolet Camaro with the badging in Australia. It not even branded as a Holden. HSV is just a glorified dealer now.
Arent HSV doing the conversion from LHD?

It's actually a massive amount of work to convert these things to RHD, keeps plenty of people employed. We've already delivered 3 of the supercharged one's at 180K each. They're obviously doing alright.

That's all good and well but that's not the subject, camaro is a yank car. HSV is identified as an Australian brand and is therefore amusing that this Australian brand is advertising and dealing american cars.

Hark back to Commodoes that became a Lumina a bit over 10 years back:

You're right about HSV as a brand but with manufacture long gone from Aus ...... what do they do down at Lang Lang these days?

Of course the manufacturer is gone and it's amusing the "Holden" special vehicles are dealing in yank cars.

It might have been news when Lasers were badged Mazdas, whenever in the last century, maybe not it was kept very quiet ...
You miss my point. This thread is (bizarrely) making fun of Holden Special Vehicles for importing yank cars when they're seen as Australian. But Holden themselves only import cars. And Ford are importing yank cars too. All new cars in this country are now imported. This thread seems pointless.

Not the first time HSV has done an imported car.
