so because we played better with Hogan for 4 games that takes away the fact we have been shit without him for 6 games without him?

That logic is pretty dumb dude
Countless examples in the last 3 years of the side performing better when he was out.

Do you think because that has been temporary that clubs haven't been properly able to plan against us without Hogan? They might have even been suprised with how we set up without him?

Now they know he doesn't play for us anymore they have a lot more time to play better matchups/strategies v McDonald and Weid? that they know exactly how we are going to set up?

It’s hard to understand the hate for Hogan from Melbourne supporters, rising star winner one of the best key forwards in the comp with his best days in front of him and under contract and they turned that into a fat fullback but your a dickhead if your not comfortable with that
You guys keep ignoring facts

HE wanted to leave, the **** good was keeping a guy with drug and alcohol problems who was struggling with his happiness.
Its moronic to be nice.

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-10-17/hogan-traded-to-fremantle

“Having arrived at the club as a 17-year-old, this is the first time Jesse has expressed the desire to potentially pursue an opportunity to return home,” General Manager of football operations Josh Mahoney told Melbourne Media.

“We said we were open to this, as long as a deal was something that would benefit the Melbourne Football Club, to which Jesse was in agreeance with.

“While we are disappointed to lose the high-quality player that Jesse is, we respect this decision and his request for a trade,” Mahoney said.

“Jesse has been through some significant personal trauma in the past 18 months, and he has close ties to family members, including his mother, brother and sister, back in Western Australia.

“As a club, we understand that being closer to family in Perth is Jesse’s priority, and we appreciate the positive impact this can have on his wellbeing.”

I think those last few points I through up were 100% valid. Do you not think that they are a very realistic possibility?
Theres also alot of examples of good players who in order to play well detract from the overall team. Franklin is a perfect example, he might have a 24 touch 5 goal game but he commands so much ball that it destroys a structure and it only works when Sydney are on top. In fact Clarkson figured this out and pushed Franklin outside the 50 and the Hawks won the flag.

I think Hogan can do an awesome job as a link man when he gets to run back and forth between the 50s and out run his opponent. I also think when he goes deep inside 50 that very average defenders can stop him from kicking goals.
A ******* heap of his goals came in the same way Josh Jenkins plays, reading the play early and sprinting back towards goal and marking uncontested.

Josh Jenkins last 5 seasons have seen 239 goals at an average of 47.8 goals a season.
Jesse Hogans 3 completed full seasons have been 132 goals at an average of 44 goals a season.

So do you think Jenkins is a superstar forward?

My take out of that is Hogan and Jenkins are smart footballers and our remaining forwards are dumb.

I've heard Roos speak about this with Hogan previously and has said it is because his aerobic capabilities are too much for defenders that they can't go with him. **** I wish I could see one of our forwards do the same thing this year

Yeah but that involves the defence actually winning the ball or turning it over and then rebounding. We literally cant do that this year so no space, how many over the back goal have we kicked this year? I cant think of one. Hogan would be struggling just like the rest of our side.

That's just a stupid logic.

The fact McDonald is so out of form and the ball hits his hands and bounces off, the fact weideman gets to so many right spots but keeps double grabbing/dropping and the fact petracca, melksham and neal-bullen have spent the first few games all playing ordinary all add up to why we are struggling forward.

Perhaps the greater reason being that our so called elite midfield kick the ball with no idea where it's going to land only add to the woes.

Anyone thinking it's a personnel issue with no Hogan are deluded and just posting trash. We could have Carey and ablett snr up forward at the moment and fare only marginally better with the pathetic way the ball is getting delivered. The fact our young kpf and our leading goal scorer from last year are so horribly out of form, on top of our mid sized forwards, don't expect it to magically get better tonight.

Oh and the talk about may is just ridiculous. Go and watch a reply of some of his games 2017, or early 2018 even. An early injury and rocking up to a club not as fit as everyone else are speed bumps. He is still one of the best defenders in the league, still plays hard and aggressive footy (which id give anything for watching our team play like they are scared of contact this year) and he will prove all that when he is back playing.

Our defence has been terrible this year but our scoring has decreased massively.

We can't blame everything on the defence

Yeah I would be desperate for May to play in the side tonight.

I mean last time he played Richmond he was pretty good. I think he only conceded 10 goals to Reiwoldt

How do those out the back goals for forwards happen?
They happen when the defence turns it over and works the ball forward quickly so yeah it absolutely the defence.
You cant get in behind when you only win the ball at stoppages.

Jenkins is 30 and a good AFL footballer, love to know how many goals he kicked in his first 3 seasons so we could compare like for like, the fact Jenkins has spent the last 5 years as the no3 forward while in his prime may have helped

Good comeback, playing with a team of basically kids late in the year. So tabener kicked 4 on Phil Davis last week, Phil Davis must be no good either. A month ago Cameron kicked 7 on grimes, grimes too must be no good.

But if that's how you view footy, it's really a waste of time trying to discus anything here with you.

I get your point. But to bring up one of your earlier points, is the defence why McDonald cant get near a ball and Weideman can't mark the ball?

Everyone needs to put their teeth back in and start playing nicely or you’ll be asked to leave the sandpit.
As we all know, opinions are like arseholes.
Hope the Dees get up tonight (in Canada) but I can’t see it. We appear to be the 18th best side in the comp at the minute.

No but you are asking leading questions mate, the whole team is playing badly thats so clear and obvious. Hogan would just be one more player out of form.

How has Steven May become this superstar backman all of a sudden?

May has had bags of goals kicked on him for 6-8 years now. Lets be honest Davis and Grimes have been in AA discussions, May has never been. The excuse was, it isn't his fault, he is playing with a heap of kids and in a good team would be a great player.

So he supposedly gets the chance to come to a good team. Turns up fat and unfit. Does a calf. Then proceeds to get suspended in the pre season. Then comes back and does his calf again (wouldn't be surprised if this was because of big training loads trying to get his fitness up to scratch).

Now all of a sudden he has became an even better player in some supporters minds due to him not playing....

So what your saying is May hasn’t played a good game in over 12 months maybe 18 but the club was justified in trading pick 5 for him, he didn’t just turn up a bit unfit he wasn’t to AFL standard and from all accounts that’s not new and the biggest highlight in his career so for is the cheap shot on a defenceless ruckman, Riewoldts probably disappointed his not playing tonight as well

Hate the message not the messenger, no need for tantrums, I’ll admit the conversation is all but done, you love May I wanted more than what we got we disagree that’s what this is all about at the end of the day.

The big difference here is I want to be wrong and hope like **** I am I have a feeling you’ll be standing your ground no mater what
