Why is London being targeted?
That's 3 incidents in the past 6 or so months.
Two involving London Bridge and the Ariana concert.

Ariana must feel like shit. This has happened on the eve of her benefit concert.

nitpicking but the Ariana concert wasn't in London.

anyway for me personally these threads I think are best avoided.
I wish the best for those affected in dealing with what was happened.

That kind of attention to detail will see you as a professor in no time ;)

London is the biggest city in the UK so it would be an obvious terrorist target, just like Paris and New York have been.

That's why Sydney and Melbourne would be more at risk of a terrorist attack in Australia than Adelaide or Perth would be.

If you're a terrorist you aren't going to launch an attack off Broadway in one of the smaller cities, they will get more exposure/create more terror in a big city.

I get that.
I just wondered if there is something I have missed as to why this has seemingly ramped up in the past few months or so.

The General Election is on Thursday, perhaps they are seeking to influence it one way or another, or scare people off voting.

The radicals organising/leading/funding these attacks want the West to increase their anti-Muslim attitudes. They want average Westerners to hate them. They want travel bans and deportations. They believe this drives more young Muslims around the world to join their cause.

We need to then ask why the Muslim faith in particular seems to attract so many people who get so offended over being "marginalized" that they believe blowing themselves up/murdering innocent people is an appropriate response.

Save it for 4chan. The subject is way more detailed than "People shouldn't be Muslims then".

That's where you're heading too. Seen your work before. Saved us a tedious number of pages to get there.
u wot?

Nice work on presuming to know what my intentions are. Although it's good to see in a thread discussing an incident where innocent people have been murdered that you posted something other than "False flag" for once.

I prefer people get straight to their "We shouldn't let in Muslims" point rather than have a long preamble where they pretend to be normal and evenhanded.

More likely to do with Ramadan which always leads to spikes in terrorism.

That's different to what you originally said.

Funny he said 'false flag' after the Manchester bombing and cue a poll bounce for Corbyn.

It will be interesting to see what emerges here, but I've noticed a trend towards recent terrorists being home grown reformed petty crims, who've enjoyed the party lifestyle in a distinctly unIslamic manner before converting, then becoming radicalised, and co-opting the religion as an excuse for their deeds. Certainly the faith played it's part in the actions, but, and I say this carefully because it can be interpreted a number of ways, but these aren't your typical Muslims, they were criminals before they converted. Perhaps the better question to ask is why are these people in particular attracted to the Muslim faith?

Despite claims by moderates, all Islam is an extreme position. To claim to know that there is a God, and that their God is superior to other Gods, then that God spoke his ultimate words to a simple merchant in seventh-century Arabia. It's all ridiculous. Just as ridiculous and extreme as believing Moses parted the Red Sea, or about a virgin birth.

But unlike Judasim and Christianity, Islam demands 'respect'. Criticism or ridicule of 'the Prophet' or the ideology incurs a real threat of physical harm.

There is also an obligation of jihad. There is no Islamic authority to decide whether that means a personal struggle or a political one. The concept could be used to justify giving to the poor or the massacre of non-believers. It gives a cause for these losers to make themselves into heroes.

But in principle, the concept of Sharia law is obscene and we should not shirk from all it entails. We should reject every small step towards it.

****. just woke to news.

This one has hit home the most. I work in London Bridge and wait for the bus where they drove most days.

Luckily out of town for the weekend.
