What I am questioning is how loneliness can be a factor when you are there to watch the match. Why are you interested in footy if you cant you enjoy it in its "purest" form - the game and yourself?

There is more to the game than "football at it's purist form". There is the discussion, the cursing, the celebration and many other by-products of football.

I can enjoy in its purist form but I so much prefer displaying emotion and sharing the experience with others.

Sometimes I think the cornerstone of football is the family and friends involvement, rather than its purist form on the field.

So then, if you can enjoy it for what it is why do you go to whatever measures it takes (including enduring 3 hours of Dan the stats man ;) ) to make sure you have someone to go with?

I don't have a problem with going by myself. I went to plenty of games during season 2000 on my own. My dad was busy, and my other family members lost interest. I still wanted to go, so i did. It didn't stop me from yelling either, i don't care if i look stupid, i was there to support my team. I'd always prefer to have company, but it's not the most important thing.

And they say Hawthorn are the family club:rolleyes:

We are fam-ily, I've got all my sis-ters with me.

You'd know that song well wouldnt you Ro?

:D

However, in all seriousness - nobody here has said they wouldnt go or dont enjoy going with family Ro. Although anyone who has met my cousin knows why prefer to be far far away from her ;), we ARE the family club and through footy we have an extended family whom we enjoy going with on a weekly basis.

You just don't get it do you Suzi?

When people say ignore list, they actually mean a list where people cannot see your posts, not at all NOTHING.

Not looking at a persons post, and going oh my .. its Hoggy.. I am going to IGNORE (pretend) that post!

Just a question Suzi .. How old are you? Because my 8 year old sister talks just like you ...
Older than you Luke

Don't mind going on my own - it is a different experience, same as going with family is different to going with mates (you are less likely to wake up naked in a gutter with the last 12 hours a blank when going with the family - although it depends on your family ).

Sometimes I just stop and watch a game of park footy when I'm driving by on my own, even when I hardly know who the teams or players are.

Go to the movies by myself all the time. I don't consider the movies a social thing - afterall, you just sit there and watch.
That's a good point BB. You're supposed to shut up while the movie's on anyway.;)
As for the footy, it's different when you're there solo. I like a lot of the friendly banter that we currently engage in during games which you don't get when going by yourself, but at the same time you don't get distracted and tend to watch and analyse the game more closely.
But I'm a football addict. I'd go to any game, regardless of who else was going.:) :)

You're not really compimenting yourself here Suzi. Most people are probably thinking, "Gee, that Suzi is not only dumb for an 8 year old, but she is actually 24"

I went to a couple of games by myself in 1996 and it wasn't fun. Obivously I go to the Footy to watch the game firstly but you need people there to talk to before the game and during the breaks.

???? PP - you're a little confused mate, someone along the line it seems you have gotten the impression that I'm a footy player I think ;)

Rohan told me that you look awesome in tight white shorts. ;)

Before I met up with the guys and girls of M10, I sat in the Hawthorn members by myself. I live by myself, go to the movies by myself, have been to concerts by myself, dinner, lunch whatever.

In terms of the football, I still yelled my head off when i was sitting by myself, doesn't make a difference to me!

I agree with what Sly said in her first couple of posts. (Bloody can't remember what she said, she said something about doing things on your own, but I remember agreeing with her)
