Just in, M.Long has torn his hamstring at training. Although I'm a Lions supporter, this is still bad luck. I'd rather play a side at full strength, and beat them.

I don't reckon Michael Long is in their best 22 anyway, and probably would have been dropped this week - so it may be a blessing in disguise for Essendon and Sheeds - saves him the tough task of dropping him.

Cory McGrath is more worthy of a spot based on this year than Long.

If I were Essendon, I'd prefer to have Long in the team. I reckon experience counts for everything in these situations.

Considering it would most likely have been his last game, I'm fairly sure he would have risen above an barriers of previous weeks, for the occasion.

how quick are people

When, i listened to the radio I tought oh no what a shame for a true champion, I was going to alert all big footy persons, but OLMY beat me to the punch.

Can anybody tell me tonight's tatslotto numbers?:D

Bolton will stay in then.

M.Lloyd in...M. Long out.

Sad end to an injury riddled career...he was a champion.

The Hitman

Don't mean to imply by my earlier post that he hasn't been a great champion (much to Carlton's detriment) and this is a sad end if the end has come.

Hitman, I think it's more likely that Bolton will make way for McGrath to give us a little more run.

Well, i hope you're right and Cory does get in. HE should never have been dropped in the first place. But with sheeds, you can never truly tell!
Maybe Wallis might get a spot;)

This will, i'm sure, also be used by sheedy as motivation, to 'win it for Longy!'.

And didn't Steve Price enjoy telling the Lions the news (local Brissy correspondent) when the news came over?

Low-life.

That's not suprising from that turd. Fortunately I wasn't listening to his tripe today. Had I been, I would have called up. But the prick would have cut me off.

Well, I was thinking that myself, but decided not to put it in!

on a more serious note what a sad way to end a great career if this is the case maybe.a true champion for essendon and his people.

I reckon Troy Simmonds is laughing at Long doing his hamstring.

Whilst Long is dangling his two premiership medallions in his Simmonds' (and his daddy's) face!

Bad luck Longy. This is no way to bow out. I must admit that i was skeptical at first, but once i saw the footage on the news tonight, i knew that it was legit. :(

Really tough for Longy, but this didn't come as a suprise to me :( I hope we do see him for one last season at Windy Hill. Oh well, maybe he can watch the game with Derek Kickett?

terrible news, i would say that slash would now come in for long and bolton would go out for lloyd

he still has one year to go on his current contract, but whose to say if he will play on or not

also got to feel for dean rioli who wanted to play so badly with long in a premiership side

This is very sad, I hope it isn't the end of his career, because it's not a nice way to bow out, although I fear it may be. I feel for Longy, although he is lucky enough to have 2 premiership medals, so I guess he's luckier than a lot of players. And he's had a good career, and become one of Essendon's favourite players over the years, so I guess he'll have to be happy with that.
