Freo 2011 and Carlton 2012.

WC and Collingwood have had a horrid run in recent years too.

Cannot believe the Hawks injury list atm, 3 tests and one guy out for the year who isn't close to their best 22.

It's like a broken record at Brisbane. Same every year, this is nothing new. Crows have been poor in previous years, this year looks to be better for them.

My clu....

Wait no, we are pretty healthy.

Id say GC, WC and Bris are well and truly 'winning' the injury lists
Ours isn't that lengthy, it's just that the injuries are targeted in terms of our structure. Plus outside our top 25-30 our depth falls away rapidly.

Brown (knee) season
Mackenzie (knee) season
Tunbridge (ankle) season
McGinnity (wrist) 4-6 weeks
Lamb (knee) 3 weeks
Cavka (foot) test
Darling (foot) test
Hutchings (back) test
Main (back) test
Rosa (hamstring) test
Sheed (hand) test

A combined 10 minutes for the season from 3 of our 4 best key position players is a massive kick in the nuts, but we're doing remarkably well considering.

Of that list only Rosa and Sheed (on top of the 3 talls) are best 22 players, and Sheed was just starting to establish himself this year before his injury. Ellis is the only other who hasn't played all year but is now back playing in the WAFL, with Scott Selwood coming back two weeks ago.

A couple of weeks ago it looked like we were going to lose Kennedy, too. If that happened I'd expect Adam Simpson to just say '**** it' and tip his desk over in a fit of rage and focus on 2016.

Well in terms of sidelined quality, Sydney had a big injury list of good players towards the end of the season 2013, also Hawthorn last year mid season were missing huge amounts of talent and WC has consistently had a number of top 22 guys out for the last few years. Funnily enough, last year when we were really hurting from injuries we were starting to win, I believe this is more because they guys were buying into Simpson's game plan then anything else though.

Add to that
James Toohey - retired due to health problems
Brad Hartman - retired because he was a lazy bastard
Geelong have to do something (and probably will this year) about having so many perennially injured types. Cowan, Clark, Delaney, McCarthy, McIntosh, Menzel and Vardy are 7 of 44 list spots for guys who are lucky to see the field (plus the 2 who have retired). 3 of those for ruck/fwd types as well.

I think the club knows this and probably aren't too worried about it as you aren't planning on winning the flag this year but I guess McIntosh surely retires at the end of this year and tough calls probably have to be made on Cowan, Delaney, McCarthy, Menzel and Vardy.

The NFL system allowing injured players to go on injured reserve and clubs to sign replacements might be fairer. You guys at Geelong probably have to make tough calls on whether to sign or keep more mature depth players or to use the late round/rookie list spots to develop kids.

He was already stuffed after this. Great moment though.
All went downhill from there that day hey? Shame Sibosado never got another taste after that.

That's when I first signed up, our buggered list was actually the inspiration for my username. We just kept churning out the injuries that year.

On a side note, can we trade out Derrwayne for Christian? Great call with genuine unscripted excitement and enthusiasm.

Yes please. His commentary of the Zaharakis goal (against the side he supports) on ANZAC Day was good as any.

I don't think it's that rare to have 20+ blokes on your injury list but it is rare to have it in the first half of the season.

Very fortunate position to be in, although it counts a bit more towards the back end. Certainly quite a few players at Box Hill right now that could step up to AFL level if need be.
