Yeah ... sad news ... but not totally unexpected. I wish the great man well in retirement and with his future persuits. Heard that he has hinted at entering politics  But he is a very intellegent guy and i'm sure he could handle the pressures of public office. We'll just have to wait and see.

Best of luck Longy ... provided so many great memories over the years. You're 2nd half in the 1993 Preliminary Final and your performance in that year's Grand Final will live Long in our hearts!

Hope to see Cory McGrath running around in No.13. :)

We all knew it was coming.

It is a bit sad because he was a guy I looked up to in the club. I don't care what people say about him, he is and always has been a champ.

Good Stuff Longy! :)

Hero and Champion are words that are overused in football today, but in the case of Michael Long they dont do him justice

The guy was the complete package, hard, competitive, skillful and a champion bloke

One of, if not the most inspirational person i have ever had the joy and luck of meeting

He is going to stay at the club next year in a development role, which is fantastic news, you need to keep guys like Michael Long around, there worth just cant be measured

Great player, loved his bounces down the wing and those miracle goals he kicked. He said in September that he wanted to continue on playing in 2002, so was he pushed into retirement or was this his own decision?
