Hello, we are a documentary company and trying to gather facts on two 1952 Topps baseball card events.

We've gathered various information online from:
1- The famous dumping of 1952 Topps Baseball High Number Cases in the ocean in 1959 or 1960.
2 - Alan Rosen aka Mr. Mint 1986 Find of 1952 Topps Cards.

Information online is inconsistent and some articles vary - the the 1986 find was 5500 cards or 6000 cards? There were 65 Mantles or 75 cards? The silver tray had 75 Mantles on the tray but the case held more (off center)? Alan leaves the silver try and walks outside then hears of the case? Or he walks from silver tray to kitchen. Articles vary. How much was the purchase? $90k or $125k? The price of the remaining cards in the case varies too. A detailed account of the purchase, finders fee, police, etc should be documented. What date or what was first show Alan started selling the Mantles?

Is their a basic or accurate count of the 5500 cards? Location of the old home - address not just city?

Are their any old photos of the Topps warehouse in 1950-1960? Can we get an idea of the size of the warehouse? The look of the warehouse? The exact location. How many people were working in the warehouse in 1960? If 300-500 high number cases were dumped in the ocean, how many cases were produced? How many shipped and then returned? How many low number cases were produced? Dates the low numbers were produced and shipped for sale? Dates the high numbers hit the stores? They were then returned from most retailers when?

Are their any cases of Topps baseball from 1953-1960 for photo reference? What were the other items in the warehouse in 1960? Were cases of 1953-1960 baseball also taking up space?

Who was with Sy Berger in 1959 or 1960 when they went to the barge? Can we get any further details on the barge or scow? The cases were in the center of the scow and Sy reaches for the old rusted handle and whoosh, they were gone.....emptied into the ocean. Sy would have been around 37? Better details on the scow and barge are needed. The port or dock they left? Exactly how far off the shore?

Unfortunately, we are a little late to hear some information from Alan Rosen himself. We are hoping to speak with close friends, co-workers, or family about either event.

If anyone knows the family from the 1986 Topps find? Oddly, it seems information to dig deeper into the connection of the case is non-existent?

We look forward to additional facts and information should be referenced with details on the source. Direct conversations with Sy and/or Alan or anyone at "the find" would be helpful.

Help document the facts on these two historic events and preserve one of the greatest trading card stories ever. The 1952 Topps story continues to build with card prices through the roof.
