After hitting a bit of recent form looks like a very winable game. Keys to beating Freo would be obviously shutting out Pavlich, stopping Palmer, Soloman, and Farmer. Hille is also looking at a massive task of taking on Sandilands, looking for a big game from Laycock in support and Bradley might come in to support Sandi if Warnock is suspened.

With Mcpharlin out injuried it will also be likely we can stretch them down back, might bring in Drum to cover him.

Key Match-Ups.

Fletcher - Pavlich: Our only real option unless we bring in Michael
Ryder - Tarrant: See this working in our favour
Rama - Farmer: Cant see a great match up for us against Farmer
Myers - Palmer: One we have all been waiting to see hopefully Myers gets the run with job
Lucas - Hayden: Lucas not back to his best yet can see Hayden trying to run off him a bit
Lloyd - Drum: With Mcpharlin out I'd expect them to bring in this kid probably only option they have unless they play Solly on him but that would work in our favor to stop his run.
Welsh - Bell/Carr: With his successful tagging of late I'd expect Welsh to go to one of these two who suit him quite well.

Could we see Welsh pushing back onto Farmer, granted he had a poor game against St. kilda but against North he played well in the midfield. We could bring dyson in (although i don't want them too) and tag/run with carr/bell. Would help on subi being a large ground and all.

Maybe Dyson in for Slattery. As you say his running would be useful at Subi.

Warnock only received a reprimand. Lloyd will have a field day without McPhalin, that means Freo may be forced to have Hayden play accountable football! Who will take Neagle? Grover perhaps? If that's the case it's a big test for Neagle, Freo get a lot of their rebound from Grover, Hayden and Michael Johnson. If Neagle can put some defensive offensive pressure (you know what I mean?) on Grover it could be tough for Freo to spew it out of their defensive 50. If we've got Hille and Lloyd hovering around the half forward line we could expose their lack of defensive skills. It's fair to say Sandilands will float forward, let him. If we can hold the ball up across half forward Freo won't be able to rebound, keep Sandilands out of the game I say, he could be the difference!

Big question, who will take Pav when he moves into the middle?

Shit, good catch I forgot all about Michael Johnson & Grover. IMO Grover will get Lloyd, while I think he is a good player, with Lloyd playing further up the ground this would be a big win for us. Mic J will probably get Lucas with Hayden playing on Mcphee.

Agree that Sandilands is a major key to winning this match, with Hille in great form I think he should really push forward to make him accountable.

I could see Myers move to Pav if he went into the centre similar to when he played on Goodesy.

It would be fantastic for his experience <insert cliche>.

I think Hille will play a very negative role in ruck contests, jumping early and what not to take him out of the contest or at least put him off his absolutely SENSATIONAL tap work (at 300cm it's fair enough! :D), I won't be surprised if he gives away a few free kicks and tbh it may not hurt us that much when Pav's in the middle! Hille will dominate around the grounds, as mobile as Sandliands is as a giant, Hille clearly has him here, you're right, exploit him up in our attacking half! :thumbsu:
