Re: Jacob Templeton

Still interested in Templeton. I like my basketballers that aren't soft.

Has some work to do as a defender in knowing when to lay off his man and use his leap for the spoil. Good speed off the mark and good footy use for his experience level.

Worth a rookie spot this draft.

Re: Jacob Templeton

Looked quick enough in the highlights without having 'burst speed'.

Looks quite good in close. Little flick ons, taps, quick handballs all seemed to be to advantage and setup play (looks like he was the point in the bball highlights so that would certainly give me confidence in his awareness, positioning and freeing people up in congestion)

Kicking quite good from the looks of things - but seemed to lack a little confidence and used hands alot (esp in the debut game).

Body work as a defender seemed 'ok' but definitely something he would need to work on, didn't seem to have the sit off and time the spoil approach, more maintined body on body and he woudl be abused at AFL level with that approach you'd think.

I'm keen to see/hear more.

I did notice he worked well with gunna.......

Re: Jacob Templeton

Career SANFL player.

A tweener that lacks pace to play as a utility and size to play as a tall.

Neddy, he's 193cm which is the same height as Bock and Walker, but quicker than both of them by a mile. He'd be as quick if not quicker than L.Thompson.

And you base your opinions on highlight footage? The beauty of highlight footage is that it can be manipulated to represent the finest points of the subject. What highlights packages seem to do is omit the weaknesses and errors.

How many times have you seen him play live?

Well, I have seen him play live on several occasions for both League and Reserves and I can say he is nowhere near as a quick as Luke Thompson. Thompson ran down Luke Brown last week and he is pretty quick.

I will be seeing Templeton play again this weekend and he could match up against the red-hot Cameron Shenton. It will be a good indicator.

Hey, I hope he proves me wrong but I am entitled to my opinion right?

Actually I'm basing it on the articles I've read about him as well as video highlights as well as watching him train at the AFC last year and talking to one of the trainers there.

All I'm disagreeing with you about are you statements that he's too short (a tweener) and too slow. I'm giving you the facts that he is 193cm which is the same height as Bock and Walker and they're not too short (especially for 3rd tall utility) and that he's not slow but actually quick.

Whether he's good enough to make it is definitely up in the air. I'm not decided just putting it up for discussion. It'll be good to see him get a go on Shenton.

Jaryd Cachia (Carlton Rookie) looks likely to be delisted this yr. He's played well (out of position alot of the time) for their vfl team, but hasn't been able to crack into carlton's midfield (Fair enough, considering it boasts of gibbs, judd and murphy). Apparently Adelaide were having a real look in to him back in 09, and were going to pick him up with the last pick, but instead picked up craig. Here's a chance for us to pick him up with a late pick, crows could really use a player of his calibre in the team, will bring a lot of aggression. What do you think Wall-e?

wait - we need a guy who is about to be delisted

how bad do you think we are?

Well to be fair, we were pretty ****ing bad. Our midfield hardly boasts the sort of cattle that Carltons does.

Seem to recall a player delisted by us that did pretty well on the Carlton list this year. ;)

I see James Allan won his third Magarey medal this year, what do we think the chances are of us drafting him are? Currently 26 so he is a bit old but at the same time could have another strong 4-6 years ahead of him and would instantly improve our side and hopefully help develop some of the guys in the side (with him taking more of the attention). Thoughts?

Re: Jacob Templeton

He's slow, right?

I'd say no more to these basketballer converts...not against them entirely, we do have a few but would rather more players with footy smarts. I still wonder how hendo will turn out long term.

That not every player that gets delisted instantly means they are shit and won't add to our list...

Jimmy Toumpas looks impressive.
Is he eligible for this years draft?
Looks like he's being tagged.

No, he is eligible next year. Has already been talked about as a possible top 10 pick next year. I would be very keen on picking him up if we can.

Other players from the sanfl i would look at would be almond, goldsworthy, ainger.

Not sure. He's only 17yrs old but not sure when his D.O.B. is though. He certainly has a nice kick, runs all day racking up possessions and showed a bit of aggression a couple of times. Definitely like the look of him. I'm also impressed with Goldsworthy. I've been watching him for a while. Seems to be finding more of the ball these days. Nice skills.
