I'd like you to expand on this comment a bit more....

?.

Still waiting to hear those comments on Suckling expanded upon but won't expect them to, as what you've said is crap!

I trust my sources and don't need to get into specifics. I am not accountable to either of you.

Agree Neddy, thats a pretty big slur to throw without explaining yourself

Haha, this coming from a Bay 13 poster. Would you like me to go through your post history and quote the slurs you have thrown? Once again, I don't need to explain myself to you.

I would also like to hear his explanation regarding Toumpus and why he isnt up to standard... He looked like a Rolls Royce on Sunday in just his 2nd game. And got 2nd best and sparked the Eagles in the 3rd term???

Didn't say he wasn't up to standard, he just won't go in the GWS mini draft. Compare him with other players eligible (O'Meara, Crouch) and there is no way he will be taken before or even after them, considering the cost of one of these picks.

Yes, Toumpas looked good last week. Of the five levels (School, WWT U18s, Reserves, SA U18s, League) of football I have seen him play this season, his league game was one of his best. Would you believe the school footy game I saw of his was one of his worst.

Saad's likely going to GWS as a pre-selection.....not sure if he'll be traded. But I'm worried about his hands and lack of left side.
Yes I know GWS are interested by what have I read
You can work on your hands and left side but he gets the ball and kicks goals

A small write up about him
But Sheedy could pre-list Northern Bullants small forward Ahmed Saad, who was crowned the Fothergill-Round medallist for most promising player aged 23 or under.
Saad, who spent six years growing up playing soccer in Egypt, is seen as a certainty to graduate to AFL level.

Bullants coach Darren Harris recently said he would be little risk as a rookie and could even give the national draft a shake after earning an invite to the combine.

Saad, 21, opened the season with a bag of eight goals and has slotted 47 for the season despite the close attention of taggers.

He has kicked crunch final-quarter goals in both Bullants narrow finals victories this year.

Please refer to my posting history and quote any slurs I have made about a persons character, I would like to see that. I might "slur", but its generally football related, nothing personal and I explain myself. And that extends to Bay 13 as well.

Your post was a cheap shot, you are right you dont need to explain yourself to me but it says a lot about you that you thinks its okay to shoot someones character down with no explanation.

As strange as it sounds some players in such situations do tend to struggle at the lower levels at times. I went through school with both Angus Monfries and Jace Bode. Both were playing a heap of footy with Sturt whilst at school, but if you'd gone by their school form, you would have thought Jace was by far the superior talent and yet Monfries is in Essendon's best 22 and Jace is just a solid SANFL player. Personally I'd prefer to see a kid who can perform at the higher levels than one who dominates the lower grades. It shows that his skill set is tranferable to the highest level and that his mindset is right, and that hasn't just relied on being bigger/stronger/faster to get by.

Gee the highlights of Mitchell Grigg really impressed me, moves a bit like Darren Jarman to me (I know big call).
I know it's only highlights but can get the ball and also recieve it too !
I've got a vested interest however cause I played with his Dad (who was alos a silky left footer) !

Griggs kick is as good as any in this draft class, however I'm a touch worried over his lack of athleticism and inside skills, but I need to review more tape of him as I get limited time on SA lads.

Which was Chris' non-preferred side! ;) .

Ah so you know Chris as well ! Wasn't a close mate or anything, but a good question you ask, not sure why he didnt test himself at SANFL level.

Mitchell wasnt even born when I left (beer & women ruined my footy career) so my recollection is fuzzy but I seem to remember Chris being a left footer but I stand corrected you probably know him a lot better then me !

Chris did play at Norwood - 17s, 19s, Reserves and a handful of league matches. Didn't get a fair go under Balme but wasn't on his own there. And yes, he was definitely a right footer, unlike his son.

Who are the other ones coming out of SA next year? What makes Grigg a better choice than Waldhuter? Is it just his left foot

Grundy, Mayes, Toumpas, Irra, McKay McDonough, Simpson just to start with. Few others also will be up there.

Grigg has a big advantage over Waldhuter in that he has a genuine AFL standard weapon which is his left foot. And he finds a lot more of the footy. Waldhuter is not a huge possession winner which is part of him game I'd like to see improve. Both though should be solid AFL players.

What are your thoughts on Mckay from Souths?

Also, how do you get so much info living up North?

I like McKay, he can play footy, but has struggled to make a significant impact on reserves and league footy. Has the body though to succeed, good solid player but slight question on how far he can progress.

Re info, I fly back and forth to Adelaide a lot (given I used to do a lot of game watching/scouting a few years ago being from here) and also have a few good friends who share the same passion who I ask to watch specific games for me if I'm interested on someone. I trust their reports plus obtain the odd bit of footage here and there. Watch the champs religiously, my best chance to get a look at them being stuck up here in Darwin. When I lived in Adelaide I was out every weekend to various games.

Who to go after with our draft picks

Asuming we get fair compensation for the Gunston trade we will be looking at having two 1st round draft picks this year. We have a real need to improve our midfield and should use our first pick on the best available mid. If we trade Gunston to the Kanga's for their pick eighteen who do we target. It is quite possible that Daniel Talia's little bro would be available around this selection and would be a nice addition to our KPDers stock. Has ability to play as CHB or FB and is very good one on one. At 193cm is a good size to play on the big forwards in the comp. Peoples thoughts appreciated.

Re: Who to go after with our draft picks

Perhaps we could get this post merged with the looking to the draft thread.

Looking through the draft highlights videos, I really like josh Waldhuter. An absoloute tackling machine. In the mould of Rory Sloane or Jack Redden at Brisbane.

Brad McKensie is another one who could feature in that late first round pick. Booming left footed midfielder.

Re: Who to go after with our draft picks

I would be extremely disappointed if Adelaide chose Waldhunter with a first rounder. Would be very stupid as he isn't the kind of footballer we need IMO. He tackles, great, but thats all he does really. He doesn't impact on games with any of his disposals, and if he did it wouldn't be to a great effect because he barely gets any of the pill anyway.

With pick #10 we should be looking at Sumner, or Kavanagh (quick mid with kicking skills)
With pick #18 (or whatever we get for Gunston) we should be looking at Talia or Bosely for KPD backup. McKenzie or Grigg at this pick I wouldn't be to disappointed about, but Grigg's complete lack of athelticism is worrying.

No thanks to Talia or Bosely. Both are poor users of the ball.

Re: Who to go after with our draft picks

Our first couple of picks needs to be a midfielder with elite kicking. After that go for the best available talent.

Re: Who to go after with our draft picks

In the event that we get decent pick for both the Guntson and Maric trades.
1. 1st round (AFC)- Sumner
2. via Gunston trade 1st round (Depending on who we trade with could be between 17-24)- Grigg
3. 2nd round- Waldhuter
4. via Maric trade 2nd round- Curran
5. 3rd round- Mature aged mid/ruck prospect

Re: Who to go after with our draft picks

I'm a little confused. In one thread, it is being said that we should either trade Byron Sumner in for Armstrong, or otherwise pick him up in the draft as he is being delisted and no one else really wants him. Here Sumner is being touted as our first round pick, ahead of Grigg and McKenzie. Are we talking about two different Sumners, or is it the same one that we can draft in different circumstances?

They're referring to Liam Sumner not Byron. And they're no relation either in case you're wondering.

Liam Sumner is the one being talked about as a first round selection. Byron Sumner is the one being discussed as an add-on to the Armstrong deal. There is a vast gap between the two in terms of potential and ability.

Re: Who to go after with our draft picks

Alex Forster for 18?

Re: Who to go after with our draft picks

Yep two different guys. Byron plays for Sydney, Liam is a draft hopeful.
