I can't remember where I read it but our strategy will change this year. It was identified after the Roos midfield flogging that our mids were not physically up to it. The plan is too bulk up, hope they can do it quickly.

They'd be most of the way there already. Just a diet change and add more weights and it should come pretty quickly. They have 3-4 months a few of them should get to a good size by then.

I think it's worth talking to Sumner to see where his head is at, seeing he physically walked out on Sydney mid-year in only his 2nd year to come home to Adelaide.

With that attitude he wouldn't have set the world on fire with Sydney, but he's home now. Has his attitude changed or is that just him??

If he was in a good place mentally I'd even consider taking him with our pick 46 or the PSD. If not then leave him be.

His problem is not one of ability - see link below to highlights vision of his U/19 championships before he was drafted in 2009.

Definitely. In his draft year, I thought he had plenty to bring to the table.
Obviously things didn't go as planned at Sydney, but if we can get him right mentally, the talent is definitely there.
Not sure I'd burn a ssecond round pick on him, but a PSD or Rookie pick would be worthwhile.
Have to interview him, maybe get him out to training and properly assess him before we make a decision though.

Strength is more important than bulk IMO. The two don't necessarily go hand in hand.

Adelaide's rookie draft was impeccable in 2009.

4 selections, all of whom are now on the main list. Luke Thompson, Wright, Riley and Jaensch.

Talia, Gunston, Sam Shaw and James Craig were the national draft selections that year.

I think Sam Shaw has a real chance of making it if he can find a way to stay healthy. He has a fair bit to offer.

The darts must have hit the right spots in the 2009 RD mate.:).

Tend to agree Pyro....was fortunate to see him run out a full SANFL game this year and, without doing a whole lot, looked pretty impressive. I reckon he's the kind of player that if you can free him up between half back and the middle you can count on an I50 entry.

In old SANFL terms he kind of reminds of one or both of the Kappler boys.

Hmm, havent seen anything of him before this and it leaves some question marks on disposal for me. Missed a few targets by hand and foot here - and this is the highlights package ;)

Not saying that he's not worth a Rookie shot. Didnt see him around goals - wonder how he'd go in a Small Forward role?

AFL site on the State combines results...could be some good rooks in this lot.

"Glenelg forward Jordan Murdoch got the South Australian screening session off to a flying start with a time of 2.76s in the 20m sprint test."

Anyone from the Bays know anything about this kid??

I remeber seeing highlights of a kid playing in the forward line for Port in the U18's I think. They may have said he had come down from Broken Hill. I thought he looked really good.

Does anyone remember who this is, or am I talking out of my ass?

He moved to Adelaide this year. Lived near Pooraka and played for them.

Burned it up for them on the wing in their A's. The Pooraka barman told Port they should have a look at him. He played more key position for Port than he did at Pooraka where he played on a wing. Kicked a few goals. Tall, quick.
