Perhaps we should hope that Brad Ebert goes into the PSD too in that case.

Port are giving up pick 28 for Ebert, much prefer they lose that. And if we want Sumner, use a late pick.

You would think if they wanted Sumner on the main list they would have included him in the Armstrong / Johnston deal to lock him in.

Well, unless we have any more delistings, and unless my maths is mistaken - which it could well be - we only have one live pick in the draft, #24

Cook isn't delisted yet is he? There has to be at least one more. Besides we are still after a ruck man. Would love us to pick up a small crumbing forward as well.

Was it Noble on 5AA who said we have 3 delistings to go, and probably look to the PSD for a ruckman?

According to AFC.com we still have picks 24, 46 and 64.

We also have pick #89 in theory, but my point was list space - two of those 4 picks are being used to promote Wright and Riley, unless I'm adding up our list wrong we only have room to draft a new player with one of them.

Ignoring Crouch who is not on our senior list, we've lost 6 players (Stevens, Moran, Davis, Gunston, Armstrong, Maric) and gained 3 (Johnston, Lynch, Brown), plus promoted 2 (Wright, Riley).

At this stage we'd have to delist someone just to have more than one pick in the draft, let alone promote Callinan or have a pick in the PSD.

We've extended Callinan's contract, but I guess a decision has to be made whether to retain him as a rookie or on our main list. Surely we would upgrade him, considering we've given him another year has shown that the club thinks he has some worth at AFL level.

As far as the draft goes I think we'll have around 3 picks so if we also decided to upgrade Callinan then Symes, Cook, Young and Sellar will be gone unless any of them are still contracted, one possibly might be luckly enough to survive the cull.

Delist Cook and Symes - Cook is not up to it and Symes has been destroyed by injury. Sellar's last month in the SANFL was perhaps his best in all his time on our list - decent TOG in the one position helps. Re-rookie Callinan.

Pick 24 ==> McKenzie (please slide to us :D)
Pick 46 ==> young, backup/project ruckman (or just trade it for Jenkins)
Pick 64 ==> mature SANFL player (Pfeiffer, Goldsworthy, O'Hara, etc)

If you want a pick in the PSD, then maybe delist Young and put him back on the rookie list.

Am i right in saying we now have 27, 41, 46?

Plus a PSD pick if we choose to delist enough.

I can see us going a couple of mature agers with those picks in 40's (if we use them all as 'live' picks).

The PSD pick should be interesting.

Don't we also have 64 or did I miss something?

Yes, if we delist enough.

I could be out with calculations but i think if Callinan remains a rookie, we basically have as many picks coming up as those we delist from now on.

For mine, I'd like 3 picks in the ND and 1 PSD (assuming we use a couple on mature agers like Pfeiffer just as an example).

That means 4 delistings, Callinan as a rookie. If we get through the drafts and didn't care for the options left at our picks, then we upgrade Callinan to senior list anyway.

Personally, I'd delist Cook, Symes, Young, Craig...with the last 2 re-rookied if nothing better is out there (likely there wont be).

Sellar given one last chance from me (but prob not from the club now Jenkins is here). If delisted, we should re-rookie if not already gone elsewhere.

These picks we have left are actually better than the ones we used to land McKernan and Sloane in 2008. Though pulling something like that off this year will likely be much more difficult; given the depth of talent is apparently pretty thin

2008 was a freak draft. Very different story this year, though I do think it's slightly underrated.

Technically, we have as many draft picks as we need. If we wanted we could delist half our list and receive as many draft picks as necessary - each round the draft picks are given in order until the clubs can't use them anymore, and if we still had more vacant spots in our list then we'd just get however many more we needed in a row right at the end of the draft.

But yes, we have 27, 31, 46 and 64, plus whatever later picks we need. If we want to use all four picks in the ND we can still take a PSD pick, as long as we have five vacancies on our list before the ND (or more to the point, one vacancy on the list before the PSD).
