Heppell to 7 and Atley to 18 (?), 27 is a long way back :(

BUT, there's a lot of clubs who will go need based and GWS could interfere......you really never know.

I actually think Crozier will be in the mix at that pick, unless GWS go their last pick on him. He has a few questions about him, and most clubs will probably have a lower risk selection on their board.

Still, you'd have to like our chances to get one of Grigg, McKenzie, Forster or Crozier at our pick. At least one of those will still be there.

I have revised my DRAFT pick #27 from earlier

We all see the DRAFT differently in recruiting players, some say get the BEST
at, in what`s available at #27, others like Talls ,Midfielder`s,Defenders etc
Myself I think what Adelaide is lacking is Speed or Quickness.
players who can break lines. to me Adelaide have 2. Dangerfield & Mackay
So I would really look at the BEST Indigenous player who would be around at
27 whether it be Turner,Ah-Chee,Tipa???,Taylor, we all know they have the
X FACTOR, or Murdoch, Neale,J.Williams,Verrier

Massive reach for a lot of those names at Pick 27. Would be surprised if any got taken in the 1st round. Some of those names may even be around in the RD.

I wouldn't be disappointed if the Crows picked up either Grigg or Turner.
Tipawungtu (?) would be a great rookie pick.

Don't know if this is the place to put it but Rendell had some vaguely interesting points in this interview:

http://www.afc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/4417/newsid/125771/default.aspx

I'd go beyond vaguely - there are some really interesting tidbits in the first half of this interview with Rendell.

I knew we rated Crouch highly, but I have to admit I was at first a little miffed that we had to give up both the compensation pick & 10 to get him - I was hoping for a downgrade to 14 with GWS getting 10 & 27 instead, but then we also got Brown. In my mind the key to whether this is a big win or not hinges on Brown - if we would we have picked him up at 10 or 14 anyway, then it would be a case of the deal being no different or a big plus. Rendell makes a nice explanation of how everyone managed to pass over Brown at last years draft and how he's come good - hopefully he lives up to it in the Crows tri-colours.

On the other hand he says this in the same piece about Crouch:

"Jaeger O’Meara and Brad were clearly the best two players in the eligible 17-year-old pool. O’Meara is more of an outside running type. Crouch is still athletic. He probably doesn’t quite have O’Meara’s pace although he tested not too far off O’Meara’s best time. Most clubs would’ve had O’Meara at No.1 and Crouch at No.2 in the ‘mini-draft’. We knew we couldn’t compete with Gold Coast for the first pick especially after the massive deal fell apart, but since we picked Brad I’ve had a few recruiters tell me they would’ve picked him ahead of O’Meara. The dynamics are that if we were to finish eighth next year and we used that (Davis) compensation pick, which you have to nominate you’re going to use in March before the season even starts, we would end up with pick No.12 and you’re not getting Crouch-type players with that pick. If we finish 10th it’s still only pick No.9. To get someone like Brad you really have to finish second or third-last and that’s why we thought it was a good decision to get him while we could. We haven’t been able to get an elite midfielder in the draft since I’ve been here. The earliest draft pick we’ve had is pick No.10 and it’s hard to find an elite-mid there."
To play the Devil's Advocate, didn't Rendell have Dangerfield rated as his number 3 player in the 2007 draft which has been widely mentioned why he picked him ahead of Brad Ebert? While I can understand what he's said in his reasoning for going after Crouch the way he did, he has also shot down the previous reasoning behind his very first draft choice - or has he re-evaluated the Dangerfield choice in hindsight? :(

Well, picking up one Dangerfield in four years isn't exactly the greatest strike rate for having elite midfielders available at your selection.

I saw this too. Although I guess Dangerfield was never really regarded as an elite junior talent. It could be that Rendell rated only Kruezer and Cotchin as elite talents, which would be a fair call given what we know now about that draft. These two were your absolute can't miss types.

Dangerfield like much of the rest of the first round that year had potential to be elite, but had deficiencies to his game that an absolute elite junior wouldn't.

When you look at it Rendells rating of Dangerfield wasn't too far off really, he certainly got the Ebert call right.

I agree. Dangerfield has more upside than Ebert.

Rendell said Elite MIDFIELDER, Danger wasn't a mid when recruited as he played more half back in his junior days. Crouch has played midfield growing up.

Given that Sando is putting an emphasis on physicality in the pre-season, I would assume he would like to take a bigger body at #27. Although I like Crozier, Im not sure he fits with sando's plans. May take someone like Tipa if he is available with one of our later picks.

Tipa?

Crozier would be a project player for 2013 and by then he would have put on 10kg if he had done the work.

If we could come away from this trade/draft period with Brown, Crouch and Crozier, I'll be over the moon.

Could happen with a late pick or via the rookie draft. The Crows are one of 6 clubs that interviewed him.

They would be our last selection or 2 in the rookie draft. I can't see any better options being available when it comes to them picks

Is there much point putting James Craig on the rookie list when we have now got Ben Dowdell and Josh Jenkins ???
