Nathan Ablett a premiership player too
So what? He never had the desire and promptly left. Hugely gifted but just not interested.

Bundy a bust for the Cats for what he could potentially done for the club, also gets marked down for the alleged circumstances of his departure (whichever one you subscribe to).
Murdoch has all the physical tools but is a major disappointment. What pick they are taken doesn't matter. I'm just looking if the pick was a win or not.
West was neither here nor there for me. If he was any good, he wouldn't have been shipped off the Brisbane.

Abbott shouldn't have made it out of Grovedale. Honestly bewildered by the list management calls being made. Cowan, Horlin-Smith, McCarthy all on the list for years with no return on investment. Not even high end talent and they get gifted multi year deals. Add abbot throw in picks used on bonafide busts such as Smedts, Lang, Brown, Cockatoo, Caddy, Thurlow what should be the core of our team you can see why we are so free agent happy. Wells is a guru alright..

Sorry but you cant fail a player because he doesn't continue to play, what if he had a career ending injury, would that still be a fail even though he played a significant role in winning us a premiership, he was was bloody good in that Grand Final kicking 3 goals.
3 goals in a 20 goal win? He was a bust, we got 32 games out of him.
I'd also say a bit harsh on Dean Gore - the only reason he spent a single year on our list is due to the trade for Danger. The fact that after being delisted by the Crows last year and even being an SA lad, that he would choose to come back and sign on our VFL list indicates how he was rated by the club & how he rated his year here (even with being traded).Geez bit hard on Trent West and Allan Christensen, both Premiership players and Christensen was one of our best. Also pick 48 for Murdoch who is getting up to near 100 games can hardly be classed as a failure, he has been quite serviceable despite the hate he gets..
Murdoch played how many games for the club GHS been at the club how long, Kolo still in our best 22, the tick and crosses are a totally biased assessment.Since 2001 it's been pretty grim reading of who we've drafted. National draft only.

We have played in 14 finals series, and won 3 Flags since 2002.
There is nothing borderline about Kolo's spot in our best 22 - he has played 61 of our last 72 matches, including all 23 matches this year.Murdoch is depth, he plays as much as he misses. GHS misses more than he plays, hence he's probably going. Kolo is borderline best 22 after 5
years but that could be more the club. He was settling reasonably well with the rest of the backline earlier this year until Harry and Hendo came back. Still out on him.
What would you base my bias on? I call them how I see them.
GCS started taking kids in 09, then came GWS.Yep, the best of it was mainly on the back of the '99 and '01 drafts. I was merely highlighting how hit and miss, more miss than hit, Geelong's recruiting has been since then.
There is nothing borderline about Kolo's spot in our best 22 - he has played 61 of our last 72 matches, including all 23 matches this year.
Of the 11 matches he's missed, 7 came at the start of last year when he missed them due to illness and a shortened pre-season, so he played some VFL to get up to scratch.
He is seen as a lock in the best 22 & hence why he isn't dropped from the team when the likes of Henderson & Taylor returned, but rather they shifted him around to keep him in the side. If he was borderline best 22 then he would have been dropped with the return of others - not dropped indicates more than just a borderline player in the eyes of the MC

Why is Mark Blake just? He played 99 games.Nice job getting this list together HHH. I'll have a crack at this too but with a touch more pragmatism (to account for factors outside of the recruiting realm such as injuries).

GCS started taking kids in 09, then came GWS.
It's the main reason us and Hawthorn have been able to keep up around the top for 10 years +.
And modda too.Nathan Ablett a premiership player too
Why is Mark Blake just? He played 99 games.
Especially compared to some of the players you gave a tick to. McCarthy a tick???
You gave Vardy a tick but gave all of Laidler, Hamling,Walker Brown a cross?
Josh Cowan deserves a tick just for turning up to report to the doc each year. Why is Mark Blake just? He played 99 games.
Especially compared to some of the players you gave a tick to. McCarthy a tick???
You gave Vardy a tick but gave all of Laidler, Hamling,Walker Brown a cross?
That aint bad at all.You won't get any arguments from me about that, I've been consistently posting as much for years about it.
What about the 8 years of drafting after 2001 and before GCS and then GWS came in?
Mackie
Lonergan
Blake (father / son, dropped for King in '07 and got a game in '09 because Mumford ran out of petrol, so just a pass)
Egan (was AA but never got his full dues because of injury)
Varcoe
Stokes
Selwood (we were able to pick him up because of the f/s rules, the rules were changed because of this)
Hawkins (father / son)
Taylor
Motlop (just)
Duncan (2009 draftees pretty much cruelled by injury bar Duncan)
If you say so
Really soz. Oh i actually I was responding to Lager's ammendments not your original post. Mix up.I didn't do any of that, someone went through and critiqued my original post, although I did put the just next to Blake, none of the others you've mentioned are mine. They were all crosses for me.
