Lol we have blades don't we?

There are ppl that we are loving life on this board and ppl we hate

Checking majority of the time and evaluate, plenty of times we check fold and sometimes not

Most things you beat he's going to check back with like JTs and QTs ect so checking and hoping is a decent plan

poker is definitely in a holding pattern at the moment.

if the USA comes back online there will be a huuuuuuuuuge rush when everyone gets back on.

poker has somewhat become a victim of it's own success. the people who were attracted to the game during the boom have analysed almost every situation (imagine a ICM deal in 2006) making the game so much harder, therefore less profitable.

add to the fact crown (in melbourne) is absolutely taking the p*** s with rake increases there isn't much incentive for the casual player, who by in large, drive the poker economy.

Went down and played abit of 1/3 while waiting for 2/4 and the rake is ridiculous.

The city/state needs to look at allowing licenses to reduce the monopoly crown have over Victoria.

I know this won't happen because Packer stuffs the state/federal pockets full of cash but it isn't sustainable and online isn't much better.

simple fact for crown is that poker doesn't make them much money and roulette / pokies / bar does.

$$$ earned per square foot is a huge management decision. the only way it's solved is competition; realistically you don't need something as fancy as crown, just a dealer and table in a bunker somewhere!

SA Poker seems to have done a great job putting together a largely player driven new venue

That argument would hold weight if there wasn't dead capacity.

I gamble in the pits quite often at crown and it's not as if there is capacity there for 40 odd table games instead.

I fold the turn as played. Our hand is pretty close to the bottom of our range in terms of "good" hands we would play this way (I assume we are flatting 99 and below).

Im more curious as to whether against this opponent, whether you would check to check raise the turn with a set.

like a station i called the turn and checked the brick river. he checked and showed qj. although i obviously won the hand the turn is marginal.

Im more curious as to whether against this opponent, whether you would check to check raise the turn with a set.

i would bet flop and check to check raise all in with a flopped set on that flop.

Yeah, I think checking turn 100% is pretty good on this board, particularly with that SPR. While part of that is just confirmation bias because I just saw that he bet the turn with QJo, I still think it is a better spot then betting the turn and facing a shove.

I thought about check/call turn, check fold river (I am usually a pretty big advocate for this line because people bet rivers so rarely compared to flop and turns) but at the time, actually didn't think he would bet the Jx one pair hands. Depends on our villain I guess.

With the GF away for a couple of weeks I decided to dust off my 888 poker account and get back into online poker. Set myself a challenge of starting with a $10 deposit and trying to turn it into a bankroll via 40c Double or Nothing tournaments. After playing a couple of hundred tournaments at the weekend (mutli tabling) I've noticed the following:

* There is plenty of collusion and teams working together in these types of tournaments, namely players from Russia and Ukraine. In one tournament we were on the bubble, it folds around to the short stacked small blind who calls and then big blind folds preflop, effectively doubling up the short stack to ensure that they stay in the game. Short of talking about cards in the chat box you can't get more blatant than that so I sent 888 the hand history etc and will wait and see what they say.

*Despite the cheats DoN tournaments are very soft. People don't realise that it's a game of attrition rather than aggression and you need to have a tight call range preflop. Chasing gets you nowhere and bluffing is suicidal when your starting stack is only 500. Likewise jamming with second pair on the flop is only going to end in tears.

* Online poker is not rigged. I was sucked out on plenty of times. Likewise I sucked out on people plenty of times. Confirmation bias is a powerful drug.

Does anyone else play on 888 poker? Their software and service has been effing terrible over the last 24 hours. On top of the collusion mentioned above (which I received a copy/paste email in response to) their server kicked me off last night midway through two tournaments and wouldn't let me back on until after I'd been blinded out. They proactively sent me an apology email today with two tickets to a freeroll tournament by way of apology, which would be great if I didn't already have 9 of the same ticket sitting there waiting to be used up. No mention of reimbursement.

Then today I was playing in a rebuy tournament and come add on time I was not given an option to add on at all, while all of the other players were. Even selecting the 'auto add on' button in my settings did nothing and while everyone else added on 30k in chips to their 10-15k stacks I was left on 15k chips. Fired off an email to them as this is pretty piss poor and has cost me half my tiny bankroll, a lot of wasted time and the potential to place in several tournaments. It's a shame no sites mention any of these glitches in their 888 poker review.

888 has been having issues for weeks - the rep on 2plus2 blamed their ISP for the multiple disconnects, but they've also had big issues because of their software update. I've had less issues with it last week or so, but yeah I too have experienced disconnects at exactly the wrong time. Not a good look for them overall and I imagine there are many ex-888 users with other providers now.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was specific to my setup (Mac) or a wider issue. Given their ongoing issues the customer service has been lacklustre at best.

The results so far of my Double or Nothing tournament efforts. Currently on an upswing after a horror couple of days at the end of the month. While the results aren't amazing it's been interesting to track my progress thus far.

Based on what I saw on Twitter yesterday, PokerStars have made changes to their VIP/rewards system, and the high stakes players are not happy.

EDIT: Reading a little more on Pokernews, Stars are also limiting the type of data that can be provided by HUDs (numerical data only)

I saw that theyre removing rakeback from all cash games 5/10 and above, which is going to destroy a few careers

^ ^ will be interesting to see what happens in what effectively is an ecosystem: what happens to the regs, where they go to, what they do. Not as if they can mass-migrate to another site as Stars has by far the biggest pool of players of any provider (obviously that also means a much bigger pool of weaker players relative to whatever stakes the grinders are playing at). I guess like any eco-system the regs will either have to adapt or die (obviously not physically!).
